a GOOD paintball setup is ALOT cheaper... but.. in the long run Airsoft is more cost effective..
at the centre i worked at we charged ?6 for 100 Paintballs... now for as little as ?7 you can get 3700 BB's... so in that sense it makes it money back over time...(think about it on AVERAGE a baller would get through around 1000 paintballs a day thats ?60...now this average was from my centre but it isnt far off...)
the whole atmosphere is superb.. i mean playing paintball is all well and good i mean the rush of charging that last bunker..
but.. think about this..(a well equipped team)
your dug in and cant move cos your under fire from a bunker so you get on the radio for help .. then a handy SAW gunner sets up at a 90 deg angle and draws theyre fire.. then you relocate 90 deg the other side.. now under his spraying form his 2500 mag you rush on the bunker... smoke nades going off everywhere as the newbies think that smoke makes them invisible... then heroically you storm that bunker and win the game for your team..
doing all that in REAL camo with realistic looking weapons.. well let me tell you.. its a RUSH!
in short if you have the money then by all means DO it!
i am consequently quitting.. due to me and my g.f priced up ALL my airsoft stuff over the years including the mooney i got back from sales etc..

Waregaming is a serious thing its awsome. Go out into a field with Grenade Launchers (yea they make nade launchers and shotguns ) and M16s, AK47s, and even a SAW Squad Automatic Weapon. Or an AUG wht ever.
Or go SWAT style with MP5s. FNP90s, UZIs, mac 10s whatever you want. Range is up to 100yards but you can customise your gun parts and motors to make then shoot farther. Most electric guns let you control the backspin the motor puts on the bb so you can give it more arc for longer range.
You can play on special airsoft ranges like paintball or in your own prvt land.
DOnt know about the real gun laws for sure so Im not gonna post.
Oh how I wish I could play this... if I had any friends who were into this sort of thing, and if it wasn't illegal here. I'm pretty sure it's illegal. I know paintballing is. And laser tag's bloody expensive. And nobody's interested in playing Bang any more.
Bang pwned. We used to play that in primary school. You make your hand into a gun, you split up into teams and scatter around the school. Then you hunt down the other guys, and when you see them you shoot them by yelling "bang!" They were cleaning it wrong. Cleaned properly the SA80 is capable of working even after it has been fully immersed in sand.
Plus if anything it looks cool (As well as being my CS AUG replacement!)

a GOOD paintball setup is ALOT cheaper... but.. in the long run Airsoft is more cost effective..
at the centre i worked at we charged ?6 for 100 Paintballs... now for as little as ?7 you can get 3700 BB's... so in that sense it makes it money back over time...(think about it on AVERAGE a baller would get through around 1000 paintballs a day thats ?60...now this average was from my centre but it isnt far off...)
the whole atmosphere is superb.. i mean playing paintball is all well and good i mean the rush of charging that last bunker..
but.. think about this..(a well equipped team)
your dug in and cant move cos your under fire from a bunker so you get on the radio for help .. then a handy SAW gunner sets up at a 90 deg angle and draws theyre fire.. then you relocate 90 deg the other side.. now under his spraying form his 2500 mag you rush on the bunker... smoke nades going off everywhere as the newbies think that smoke makes them invisible... then heroically you storm that bunker and win the game for your team..
doing all that in REAL camo with realistic looking weapons.. well let me tell you.. its a RUSH!
in short if you have the money then by all means DO it!
i am consequently quitting.. due to me and my g.f priced up ALL my airsoft stuff over the years including the mooney i got back from sales etc..

1, no offence to paintballers but i been there done that. i was a paintballing marshall for a few years and it really WASNT fun, i mean the bad thing about paintballins is it hurts a fair bit... not much.. but still unnesscecary pain..
2, it is alot like paintball well 'skirmishing' is.. same type of scenarios only they are played out by players wearing full camo + assault vests with realistic looking guns..
3, the one drawback is.. no marks.. whihc can bring cheaters.. but as the airsoft community isnt that large it shouldnt be a problem but witha few new players it is :s
4, money.. now lets see.. my basica setup of:
-Gun
- upgrades
- silencer
- newforegrip and torch
-claw mount
-reddot sight
-3 mag's (1 came with standard so 4 in total)
-battery
- charger
-new set of camo (this was tricky as i wear a funky kind of camo it is called MARPAT for those who care <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> )

1) airsoft guns: are they like BB guns? are they actually REAL, or just fake guns that u aim at people and go "bang, i shot you, youre dead"? do they fire BBs or something similar, and does it hurt, and how... 'hardcore' [range, damage, single shot or actual spam with mp5] do they come. whats the general age [i.e drinking is 18, smoking 18, paintball is 18, you get the picture, what is airsoft?]

They shoot 6mm bbs. They dont hurt as much as a paint ball but you will know when u are hit.
They make semi autos, full auto guns.
Dont know of a general age but almost every where u must be 18 to buy one.
Waregaming is a serious thing its awsome. Go out into a field with Grenade Launchers (yea they make nade launchers and shotguns ) and M16s, AK47s, and even a SAW Squad Automatic Weapon. Or an AUG wht ever.
Or go SWAT style with MP5s. FNP90s, UZIs, mac 10s whatever you want.
Range is up to 100yards but you can customise your gun parts and motors to make then shoot farther.
Most electric guns let you control the backspin the motor puts on the bb so you can give it more arc for longer range.
You can play on special airsoft ranges like paintball or in your own prvt land.
DOnt know about the real gun laws for sure so Im not gonna post.
Bang pwned. We used to play that in primary school. You make your hand into a gun, you split up into teams and scatter around the school. Then you hunt down the other guys, and when you see them you shoot them by yelling "bang!" legal drinking age (unless you're not in the US) is 21. lol.
airsoft age is 18 to own one... but it could be "my dad's". haw haw haw.
and... they're not all 6mm. there are a good number of 8mm airsoft guns out now. must hurt a fatass bunch.
anybody got any suggestions for an "underage"?
i.e buy one under your dads name, and just keep it around your home. if you want battles/skirmishes, then go to the bush and be careful... [etc]
