will there be hand grenades? if so how do you use them? will it be like counter strike were you have to select them as a weapon or like tfc were you just push the button?

when did they become cs grenades? <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo--> anyway I'm thinking there should be a standard frag grenade that all marines carry (like in deh movie starship troopers). Then come all kinds of grenade launchers. Ones that are attached to your guns fly greater distances.
the thing im most woried about is ammo i mean early in teh game a couple of <!--emo&:bob:--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bob.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bob:'><!--endemo--> np but when u meet a blinky with 1 or 2 other marines and u jsut respawned well ur ammo can count big time (a commander cant be everywhere at once) and if hand rgenades were isued make em 2 for every marine but make it that commander issued grenades do mroe damage then spawn grens thats all (cs grenades it would be like cuz there is no secondary fire)
We don't have hand grenades planned for the first release, but if add them, they will be like the grenades in CS, not like TFC. This is because one of our goals is to not require any more keys then required in HL, and there weren't any grenades in HL... :)

I agree. Even though NS isn't ALL about realism, the idea of being able to spew out 4 grenades in 3 seconds while constantly firing a weapon is kinda cheesy.
And to think............I got flamed huge when I asked about grenades(refering to the ones fired from the launcher). Yah. However, the majority of Alien weapons are more pin point in style. The Alien's equivalent to the grnade (a weapon that has an area of effect and can weasel into sneaky places) is the spore cloud. It doesnt feel like a grenade, but serves the "flush em out" purpose nicely.

I actually prefer TFC style grens, in halflife SP and CS grenades as weapons (so you cant fire a gun as you have to hold them) make sense as its a fairly slow game but in HLDM grenades are too slow so arent used much. I figure NS will be a fairly fast game as the aliens are pouncers. The only time I can see a grenade being useful if you cant shoot your gun and fire at the same time is if you see a group of them that cant see you... and the chances of that are very low with this hive mind thing.
Besides, if they are trying to get close you probably wont want to use a grenade as youll kill yourself. Grenades as weapons are only useful against campers and I cant see the aliens camping much.
Oh and of course good for destroying alien buildings... but either type can do that.

Ever tryed for example MOH:AA obj. map 4, "the bridge"?
When you run against you're enemy, you run below the bridge, and then throw up dozins of grenades to the enemy's "walkway", so that they all get blown up trying to cross/come near the bridge, that always work, and noen of those whom die are campers!
when somebody follow you, and you reach a Wall infront of you, so that u cannot continue, you throw a grenade at the wall, and let it bunch back at the enemy following you, which in most cases would kill him, now he wasent camping, either.
when somebodys walking through a hall, and there is a window at the far right, and the far left, you throw one in the right, and one in the left, and there trapped, and dead.
But they werent camping either.
when you're fighting against 5 other people, and you see no way out, you throw a grenade to the ground, and die, along whit you're 5 opponents, now they werent camping, either.

of course the alians have FAST gameplay but the marines have <i>slowwwwwwww</i> gameplay and takign an alian with u? tahts something good unless its a bob unless ur alone... im afriad. but grenades are used to bounce around corners and stuff. and if u use tfc grenades if u aim up to get more distance i miss the alians and do u fire a gun and throw grenades?

U'mmm, I think grens will be eful for flushing out cloakers (until the flamethrower is coded that is)
