Sig Upload Question

When I try to input the code from the sig FAQ site www.hostmysig.com it tells me to use this code

<a href='http://hostmysig.com/data/davis/9154.php' target='_blank'>http://hostmysig.com/data/davis/9154.php</a> -with the -[IMG]
i have to mess it up or it wont let me post this message.
but all that does is give me this.

You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board. A valid format is: <a href='http://www.domain.com/picture.gif' target='_blank'>http://www.domain.com/picture.gif</a>, an invalid format is: <a href='http://www.domain.com/picture.one.gif' target='_blank'>http://www.domain.com/picture.one.gif</a>


so what am i doing wrong?
