Dropping weapons? selling equipment

<div class="IPBDescription">Random stuff</div>Seeing as weapons and ammo cost resources and so arent unlimited, when a marine dies do all weapons he had drop or does he only drop what was equipped?

Oh, can you sell weapons to give a quick boost to the resources? I can imagine the commander asking everyone to sell off unused gear so that he could quickly build a vital base facility or something.

The weapon you were carrying becomes available for a few seconds (right now it's 30), then fades away.

The commander can recycle his structures in order to cash in for a quick resource point boost. Often makes for interesting tactics.

He drops what he was carrying, and his sidearm (I think).  As for re-selling... once it's there, use it or lose it.  He can always drop it for another marine.  An interesting idea, though, to "mortgage" weaponry for a quick RP boost... while it might add another (promising) strategy element, I'll play devil's advocate:

In-story, it could be said that resource points are required to phase in the weaponry (as troops are phased in through the infantry portal).  Therefore, it doesn't make sense to be able to get the RPs back... once it's there, sending it back would only cost more.

What about shoving it the weapons factory? (or whatever similar building exists)

Wait, never mind if we do this i see whole teams of marines shoving their pistols in there every single time they respawn and other wierdness.

Who would he sell it to?  The only people on the space ship are marines and aliens.  Unless you want bobs with nuke guns and HMG's I dont think selling is too smart.

Get your mind out of the gutter Freemantle, for pete's sake!!

By "selling" steve, he really means recycling, by taking the unneeded weapon or structure and converting it back into resource points (somehow).  Perhaps in order to make this seem more feasible, there could be a structure that is required in order to be able to do this.  It could be similar to a shredder, with a big hole in one end leading to where the unneeded material is "ground up" into useable resources again.  There should be a loss of points by doing this (no device is 100% efficient, energy must be lost to heat and sound according to the Law of Conservation of Mass).  Of course this whole setup is probably unnecessary, and will probably prove to be a hinderance rather than a help, but it does provide the team with an explanation of why you can recycle stuff.

If the gun stayed on the ground it could cause serious problems.. What would happen if a bunch of tank'ed out marines rush the aliens and all died losed the weps causing for a huge wase in resoucerces..

It would take a LOT of guns sitting on the floor to lag up a player's computer.... I used to toy around with placement of hi-poly weapon W_models in CS.

Actually, there are only two possible problems with marines rushing and losing weapons a lot of times.

First is the loss in resources. That's not the dev team's problem. That's the problem of the idiots wasting RP.

Secondly, there -is- an increase in the number of visible entities when people do that. Which is why guns decay after 30 seconds. Problem solved.
