Strange Fps Issues

<div class="IPBDescription">What the hell?</div> I used to get 60 FPS constantly. No matter what fps_max was set to. I increased my refresh rate as i was told by a guy in a server, and now i get an even wierder problem. My framerate is now normally 42.5, occasionally being 85. My refresh rate is 85 hz, and yes i see the connection. Why would it halve? The wierdest thing is, it is ONLY EVER 85 or 42.5 nothing else!

You have Vsync turned on. Now that you have increased your refresh rate, I would recommend trying the game with Vsync turned off and see if you notice any problems. Vsync is turned on/off in Display properties->Settings->Advanced->D3D or OpenGL.

I hope you mean my guide, because if you did what the 3rd poster suggested you're still running your monitor at 60Hz which is BAD NEWS!

And for those of you just telling people to turn VSYNC off, READ MY GUIDE it's NOT the root cause fo the problem, there is an underlying problem which you SHOULD FIX!

Getting 100fps is desirable. Running at 60Hz is NOT and if you disable vsync (and get all the frame tearing what goes with it), you STILL WON'T HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM! (even though you now have 100fps)
