<div class="IPBDescription">the welder</div> Ok, 1rst of all, i'd like to say that this mod is the most professional, awsome, alien-blasting, marine splatting, creepy mod(and game) i have ever seen!
For a true scifi-horror-fan, it cant get better!
Its so awsome, the levels are stunning, the light effects and sounds are totally.... COOL!

A biiiig, biiiiiiiiiiig thanks to the dev. team and everyone involved and everyone who play it! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

now, on to the question:

In the manual, it sez something about the welder that is pretty cool: <i><b>"it has one final, incredibly useful function ? <u>it can seal or unseal certain doors and vents, or open or close control panels that may allow all manner of actions</u>. Weldable objects are marked by special icons on the marine HUD."</i></b>

I have never done this, and never seen anyone do it, so can someone plz tell me how i weld shut doors and stuff? how does it work? is there something especally important i need to know?

mining is fun...

When you see a welding icon, you can go and weld it like you would weld stuff. A progress bar appears at the bottom of your screen (like the gestating one). When it's full, you just have welded something.

    Here's that icon:

They should have a symbol, its only certain parts of the map that people make. For instance, at most vents in maps, you can weld them and they will close, denying the aliens quick movement and the like. They are usually located in strategic locations. Usually if you can weld a vent, it will have a little see-through bar on it. Not all things can be welded. There are actually very few weldable things, but hey, its still fun to chase a gorge down with a welder.

btw if you turned tool tips off, you wont see the weld icon either.

Aye. Don't let the grouches get to you. If somebody calls you a n00b because there's something you don't understand yet, they are teh 3\/1l and should take the time to explain it to you instead. If they do, they rock. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

also, if you have the autohelp off (no weld icons) you can look out for these almost transparent white bars. Those cover weldable vents, dont know why, must be a mapping/coding thing. so when you see some of those, weld it

Just bar in mind that gorges can also unweld weldables in certain places. So don't feel surprised if you weld off the pressure equalisation conduit leading to marine start in Bast only to have a skulk leaping out of there a few moments later!

    SAY WHAT!
I didn't know a Gorge could unweld things?
What does he do, melt them with his acid spit?
Can you reweld after hes unwelded?

The only thing I know of that a gorge can unweld is the vent leading to marine start on bast. All you need to do is spit at it once on the central horizontal bar. There are occasions where it hasn't worked for me though - it either works on the first spit, or not at all. <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'><!--endemo-->
