Anywho, Please select one of the following options, I (and everyone else) don't care what else you have to say, just put the number of the option please. Please respond truthfully (pressing jump repeatedly without understanding aircontrol does NOT count as bhop).

1. I can bhop and I think bhop should be in NS
2. I can bhop and I don't think bhop should be in NS
3. I can't bhop and I think bhop should be in NS

    Bhop ruins the atmosphere. Imagine... [insert wavy dreamy sequence here]

    Marines march Into the Hera Complex. They are the best of the best, those roughneck rogues that scour the ariadne arm. They arent just oridnary marines, they are... THE FRONTIERSMEN! Immediately they secure their first base, the first line of attack against the kharaa infestation. Suddenly, from all entrances, chuckles are heard. Split seconds later, waves upon waves of rabid skulks assualt the newly built marine outpost, fresh blood for the hive...

    And yet...

    The marines being the best of the best know how to survive! They jump up and down and crouch all around waving their LMG's in the most childlike fashion known. The skulks are roaring so incredibly with laughter that they get shot to pieces...

    Essentially, when the hell would you see modern day delta forces hopping like mad to avoid being shot or to get somewhere quicker?

    How do you not know how to bunny hop?For me its just Shift then ctrl half a billion times with a slight movement of the mouse to keep aim on . . . I personally find running at the skulk/lerks works better(or running with olympic style shoes if its something else)
    Just run into em and move around, if you're smart enough to keep your aim on while circling wildly they won't be able to target you half the time

    Yes. You read the title correctly. This is another Bhop thread. w00t. Don't mean to hijack your thread... but does anyone else feel the Bhop issue has been flogged to death? I mean, all the replies have been said before.. somebody will say it ruins ambiance... somebody will say its fun and argue that aliens can bhop so why shouldn't marines.. then someone will pull the "Team work" card out of their sleeve, and toss in a Flayra quote to add some sort of devine credibilty to their argument... and before you know it the thread has degenerated into the same old pile of yesterday's news.     Kinda makes you wonder how many people think they can bunnyhop, but really are just confused about what it is.

    Trust me... the mix of quiet travel and fast travel really just takes the challenge outta the game. Just cuz it's in there doesn't mean it was intended to be.

    I tried, but I couldn't get the timing right. The idea is to jump just as you hit the ground, right? So that you don't slow down due to contact with the ground? I just don't have the knack.

    EDIT: Oh, yeah. I also think that it's just not right for armoured marines to skip down the hallway.

    Aliens should be able to do it. Or, they shouldn't slow down like the marines will in 1.1. Aliens are special.

    I can do it, I undestand how it's done, but I still think it's utterly lame way for marines to dominate aliens over & over, besides the fact it makes for a completely unreasonable game for the aliens. A marine can travel backwards down a corridor faster than the skulk can chase him (assuming the skulk can't bhop either) and still fire at the skulk?

    The main confusion to me is how anyone who plays both sides could possibly see that as making for a fair game. And as for those who only play marines..... well... <blocked by self>

    Thankfully, it's not an issue to be decided, it's done AFAIK. And good for the team for doing it.

    nowadays i dont see ns as an atmospheric game, so i cant argue that bhop/strafejump/whatever makes it less atmospheric for me. when i first played ns i was like "OMG", it was on ns_eclipse, there were mines up everwhere and onos runnin around. it felt like i was <b>in</b> the game, like it was real to an extent. but now when i play i dont get the scared feeling(oh how i love when a game gets my heart going) or the thought of "OMG". it sucks because i liked that feeling. when i see a pipe on the wall i dont think of it as an actual pipe. its more like i just see this thing i can walk on. the same goes for anything else. when im running around in a room, i dont picture myself actually in that room, i just see the geometry for what it really is: fake. fades dont scare me when i see them and when im shooting a skulk i dont picture myself actually shooting a gun at an alien species. i could just as easily play this game with a green cube for a skulk then when it dies it turns red. (though the skins would be hax but its just an example) but like i said before, i wish i had the old feeling like i was in the game =\

    Bind a key to mwheeldown and scroll like a madman while you run, makes the game really, really stupid. Not only does it look silly, but it throws off balance, marines are supposed to walk at a certain speed, balance was done at that speed, with bhopping you can break it.

    but i find a bhopping kharaa more of a problem than a bhopping marine.

    If only there was a way to completly stop bunnyhopping for both teams without touching airspeed (screws up lerks), or doing it CS style (ugh).

    Aliens are supposed to be fast, just not *that* fast. I think Flayra should try to get rid of it for both teams (with minimum annoyance of course).

    There is a max sv_airacceleration for the aliens in 1.1 I do belive.


    However, aliens will be able to hop incessantly, while marines will not.

    OH NOS! BUT I WANT TO HOP LIKE A M4DMAN!

    <b>It adds nothing to the game, except it helps dodging skulks, which are already creamed by marines easily anyways!</b>

    Fades or Onos...? Yeah right give me a break... You don't need bhop then... it will by no means help you at all if the fade or onos user played the game longer than for 2 weeks.

    what's the real problem with bunnyhopping? The fact that some people can't live with the fact that a popular exploit of theirs is getting removed from yet another game. Boo-hoo.
    Sorry for all these mean posts, pm me and I'll try to make them friendlier, and more constructive later on (if I have time).
