Hi everyone.

So I heard some talk of this very cool mod, called Natural Selection. I decided to try it out for myself. After reading the description, I was eager to play the game at last.

Something's weird, though. I've got really weird maps. Maps like: Bootcamp, undertow, etc. I doubt these are NS maps, caus' I've seen them before in another game. Maybe this is the result of a faulty installation?

Also, when I try to join a multiplayer game, it says I can't join a server untill I've installed the custom game myself. What's up with that? I've installed it allready!

    Hi, and welcome to the best mod around. Ever. Period

    You're probably starting the game from the Shortcut on the desktop, i dont know about anyone else, but this won't work for me. You need to go into normal Half Life (or any other HL mod) go to custom games, and activate NS from there. Should work then

    or starting the game from a 3rd party server browser

    GameSpy Arcade
    The All Seeing Eye

    works fine too

    come on board
    Natural Selection is the best mod i have seen in awhile

    * pluses
    the kills are highly exciting because you do NOT fight a similar player with similar tactics and similar weapons
    the wins are huge...it is very clear who one....no tight games no last minute i almost capped
    its just dang fun (get yer first kill as a skulk ....you will see)

    * minuses

    learning curve is high...
    learn the basics before trying commander (Marines) or gorge (Alien)
    as a marine learn how to make the best use of the light machine gun (LMG) and yer pistol (pistol is great for long precise shots)
    as an alien learn how to play skulk very well. crawl along walls ceilings and ambush.

    reason being is these are the base classes and when resources are low...that is all you got

    so browse the forums there are plenty more FAQs on playing
    but above all .....play, play, play

    My desktop icon works fine...

    you need to open the properties box (right click the icon > properties)

    then in trhe box that says "Start In" type C:\Sierra\Half-life (or what ever your HL directory is)

    Should then work fine

    If you are using the in-game browser, you might need to filter the game for ns only. This is a common problem many new people have with all half life mods. At first, when you search for games, it displays all games for all mods. Hope this helps.
