Computer games that is...
Well i've seen so many topics regarding music and films but non 'bout games. Just tell me which games you like best.
mine are:
1.Unreal/UT: Unreal for the magnificant maps, the good music, nice graphics.Ut for it's fast-paced action.
2. Chronotrigger (the SNES version didn't play the ps version): good gameplay, nice graphics, good story
3.Rise Of The Triad : old and not really succesfull game, not enough variety of maps, but it was brutal for his age with lots of blood and gibs, played it a lot
And that's rigth there's no Half-Life in this list, crappy game, gets boring very easily and the alien part on xen just plain sux.

Comments
Chronotrigger - Excellent choice InterFect0r, if you enjoyed Chronotrigger you should play Anachronox. Tom Hall = genius.
Panzer Dragoon Saga - If rumours I've heard are true and this game is really set for an XBOX sequel I'll gib. Only to respawn the second it's released and play it until may thumbs bleed. Seriously.
Half-Life - I don't agree with your view on HL, it’s an excellent game. It didn't get everything right (xen) but the early Black Mesa sections are excellent. The pacing, atmosphere and intensity of these bits are just right, it tapers off heavily toward the end though.
Legend of Zeleda: Ocarina of Time – sublime.
Super Metriod – Beauty. I just hope they don’t arse up the new GameCube version.
System Shock 2 is by far my favourite game, can't really order the rest though.
- Star Control II (esp. super melee)
- Starcraft (esp. 1v1 multiplayer)
- Under a Killing Moon
- Quake II (1v1 q2dm1 = perfection)
- Tribes I (started teamplay, IMHO)
- Battlezone I/II (so innovative it hurts)
- Mortal Kombat I-III
- Counter-strike (wow)
Lunar 2,
Half-Life,
NS (I know its going to be good ),
Bushido Blade 2,
Diablo 2
That sums it up for video games
All in all...
#1 Half-Life. Very awesome single player. I was impressed with OpFor, but was a little dissapointed with Blue Shift. I still play the single player every now and again.
In the SP (non half-life)category...
#1 Warzone 2100. It's not the best example of a RTS out there, but there's something that gives me a joygasm when I parade through someone's well-developed town with a laser-tank.
#2 Marathon series. I know you're going to laugh at me. It was an old game developed by Bungie Software for the Macintosh. I know for a fact that they ported Marathon 2 over to PC, but the rest never made it. Marathon 1 took my breath away, and the 2nd one revived me, then did it again. I've never played the third, because my parents 'upgraded' to a Compaq. Why oh why Bungie? Why didn't you make a pack with all three for PC? /me cries.
#3 Deus Ex. Although it never had a decent MP to keep me interested, the SP was awesome. Truly breathtaking.
In the MP category...
#1 Half-Life. I'm going to leave this vague, because I could spend about 5 ranks on mods. I rank the mods in this order for me. TFC/Sven/CS/DoD. I can even be caught playing some HLDM every now and then.
#2 Tribes2. When Dynamix died, 'twas truly a sad day for our world. Tribes 1 was a very awesome game, but the gameplay in 2 is more my style. More vehicles, more weapons, pass me a spinfusor, then get the hell out of my way.
#3 Quake III Arena. I still am horrible at this game, but the graphics amaze me. Maybe one day I'll learn.
Well that's my votes for best game. If you made it this far, hurray for you.
Hexen -- added a lot of things to the Doom engine that needed to be added, in addition to non-linear gameplay, so what if it was just "go here to get this item!"
Command & Conquer -- sure it was unbalanced, but it definitely was fun! "I got a present for ya!" *boom*
Super Metroid -- that's just a lot of fun to play. Sometime I really have to try to beat that game with as few items as possible.
Science and Industry -- I dunno if you could count this or not, but it is definitely IMHO the most under-appreciated HL mod out there.
Marathon -- light-years ahead of FPS's of its time. Including things such as mouselook, akimbo guns, secondary fires, seeing which weapon another player is using, and weapons that need to be reloaded, at the time of Duke3d.
Street Fighter 2 -- I love this game because of its simplicity and approachability in comparison to today's fighting games. No techniques, no combos, no counterattacks, no fatalities, maximum of three special moves per character. Just beat the #### out of the other guy and have fun.
#10 - Gunship 2000 - Incredibly ahead of its time Helicopter simulator for the 386. You could fly Apaches, Keowas, and other attack helos, and even command whole squadrons. No one has ever made anything like it since.
#9 - Falcon 3.0 - The best true flight simulator ever and another 386 classic. Once you mastered this game you were fully capable of operating a real F16, as some lucky contest winners found out at one point. Incredible depth and realism, it forced me to spend my hard-earned cash on my first joystick-throttle combo.
#8 - Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe - an amazingly fun and varied game where you could fly US or German fighters and bombers in WW2. As the German side, you had access to all the weird 'wonder weapons' of the last year of the war, like jet and rocket planes. As the US, you could fly a B17 bomber and man all the guns, then play bombardier. Limping home at low altitude, leaking fuel, with 2 engines out - incredibly tense and fun game.
#7 - Wolfenstein 3D - What can I say? My first FPS. Cost me a point off my Freshman GPA for one quarter...
#6 - Space Hulk - Another smoking 386 game (see a trend here?), you commanded your religious zealot Space Marine chapter against hordes of Genestealers on drifting spaceships. It had an amazing commander mode feature that gave you a short time to order your troops into formations, pick their weapons, and give them waypoint orders. Then you could also control one Marine at a time, as aliens started popping out of the ceiling and making you soil yourself. The amazing thing is, Flayra was unfamiliar with the game when he started NS; the parallels are definitely there...
#5 - Wing Commander - The game that made me buy a 386. It was so resource intensive I spent days tuning my config.sys and autoexec.bat in order to squeeze just a little more RAM out of my system. Space fighter combat with a branching plot and great attention to detail- it ruled.
#4 - Doom Shareware - Duh! Best all around FPS ever for the 486/Pentium1. If you missed this one, your excuse better be you were too young, or I'll have to kick some shins.
#3 - Mame32 - Not really a game, it emulates arcade and old home console games that I grew up with. I still play Lunar Lander constantly, and we have huge contests for Hat Trick at work where a lot of money changes hands.
#2 - System Shock 1 - Perhaps the most innovative and scary adventure game ever, it defies categorization. Not an FPS, not an RPG, it was something special. Unlike other contemporaries like Doom, it had a real plot, level over level designs, massive player inventories, hacking, and an incredibly evil enemy - SHODAN.
(drum roll)
#1 Half-Life - What, you thought I was going to say Pac Man? This is the only game I've ever owned that I'm playing almost 4 years after I bought it. It has more longevity than Lazarus, and constantly surprises me with all its mods. I can also play the SP over and over, which has never happened to me before or since.

#10: Colonization: This little gem stood always in the shadow of its big brother, Civilisation. I really can't say why.
#9: Mystic Quest(GB): My first RPG, and one of the few console RPGs that came up with an interesting plot.
#8: Chrono Trigger(SNES): The best console RPG. Ever.
#7: Star Craft: Perfectly balanced, with a storyline that's better than many Sci Fi series, and some of the best cutscenes ever seen.
#6: Alpha Centauri: Many people said it couldn't be compared to Civilisation. They were right.
#5: Max Payne - 'nuff said.
#4: Quake 3: I admit it - I'm a DM #####. And Q3 is simply the best game for my kind.
#3: Baldurs Gate 2: Number one was so bad localized it was almost a physical pain to listen to it, ToB made the char way too powerfull. Shadows hit the sweet spot.
#2: Half-Life: The first FPS I ever played without of fearing that my brain could start rotting during the process.
#1: Deus Ex: The greatest plot I've ever seen in a game (and most other media, coming to think of it), perfect sound, enough style for three games, and the god damn best gameplay that was ever put on a CD.
Starcraft - One of the greatest RTS games ever. I liked this so much more than C&C or Dune, if only because the multiplayer was so much more easily accessible.
Diablo - RPGs are one of my favorite types of games, and the original Diablo was such a blast to play around in. I actually like it more than Diablo 2.
Star Wars X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter - If you haven't guessed, I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and the original 3 game Star Wars flight sim series was just excellent. Of course, it's been replaced by Rogue Squadrons one and two, but it is the only game I have where I can be the empire.
Sim City - I liked these games. They were innovative and original, and I still play them occasionally.
Legend of Zelda - Again with the RPG aspect, these games were just amazing. There is simply no equal in the gaming world to the quality of the Zelda franchise. Not even Final Fantasy.
Super Smash Brothers - For a good party game, nothing beats Smash Brothers. It's so addictive and fun, and you'll laugh out loud playing this game.
Half-Life - Of course, any game that can rock the world as much as Half-Life did deserves to be on the list. I remember asking for it for Christmas, knowing I had to have it but not really knowing why. So much fun has come from this game, and of course there are the mods, which are just amazing. TFC, DoD, Sven, and so many others are just the bee's knees.
AGGGHHHH!!! How could I forget to list this one??? Great call Greedo. I played the criznap out of this one, and the other follow on products.
- Doom/Doom 2
- Duke 3D
- Warcraft 2
- Half-Life (duh)
Heck, Ive installed Doom 2 recently abd began playing the whole thing through again, man the memories...
-Final Fantasy MQ-III(SNES)
-Final Fantasy 7 (PLEASE think of the children)
-Lunar (Silver Star Story and Eternal Blue)
-Chrono Trigger (why wont anyone think of the children?)
-Mario RPG
-XENOGEARS (r0x0r5 j00z)
-half life
If RPG's didnt have an end I wouldnt have time for UT half life and doom, they just hold me over till the next FF .
No order.
Half-Life: Cool storyline, great atmosphere, bit lacking on the graphics side though.
Homeworld:Cataclysm: Cool graphics, Generally fun to play.
Max Payne: Bullet Time, Reasonable storyline.
Red Faction (To a lesser extent): Inseresting, Geo-Mod.
Battlezone 2: Fun to hoon around and build a base from a command station in skermish. Build upgrades and make yourself a Uber-Ship. Love the point and order interface, hope NS has somthing simaler for the marines.
Tribes 1/2 (Less in the case of 2): Fun to jump in a armoured carrier, get a load of heavies, and fly over a enemy base, raining down green death.
UT: Fast-paced carnage, love snipering.
Operation Flashpoint: Love the realism, the vehicles and the teamplay. Enemy AI leaves a lot to be desired. (See Note)
RTCW: Sweet graphics, cool weapons, Storyline a bit disappointing at the end with the usual shoot-the-baddie-repeatadly-untill-he-dies bit.
Indpendence War 2: Open ended plot, ho hum storyline, closest thing to a RPG I will ever go near. Jaw-ectomy graphics.
Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe: I got it with my old sound card about 5-10 years ago, Played it to death with my gravis gamepad. Unbeliveably BAD graphics, but hey.
Starcraft: Great storyline, good cutscenes. I mostly only played the multiplayer though.
Soldier of Fortune: Who here can honestly say that there is no joy in blowing off an enemies legs with a shotgun? Hated the RTCW style ending.
Serious Sam: Love the "If it moves, shoot it. If it doesn't move, shoot it anyway." style gameplay. Co-op was cool too.
GTA1/2: Love to burn around killing everyone/thing in sight. Good for a bit of stress release. My fav pastime is rigging a bus, stoping a bus stops untill I have a full load and then, BOOM!!
Black and White: Was cool for a while, got boring quick.
Dune 2: The grandpappa of all RTS.
Decent / Decent: Freespace 1/2: Awesome graphics/cutscenes/storyline/replayability. Possibly the best series of space sims ever.
Note: The US army was using a modified version of Operation Flashpoint as a realistic battlefield simulator. They wanted to adapt it for an Australian environment so they coded in some kangaroos that scattered as a helicopter approached. They scattered as they were supposed to do, but as it turned out, it was easier to edit the existing infantry code and replace the model with a Kangaroo one. The problem? After the kangaroos scattered and hid behind some rocks nearby, one of them poped out with a stinger ground to air missile and shot down the helicopter.
HEHAHAHEHEHAEHAE!!

GTA3 as well, played this on PS2 amazing game so violent yet soo funny.
in random (except number one, my true fav.)
1: goldeneye! (i know its a little old, and the graphics aint great, but it was the greatest FPS, and still is!
i even bought shark-something (the cheating device) for it!
(had alot of fun whit doing stuff like replacing the girl (cant remember her name...) in the end, whit like jaws )
2: gta 1 and london
i cant mention the million "kill-as-many-civs-as-you-can-before-the-cops-kill-you" - tournaments iv played whit it!
(personal record: 463 kills, whitout getting busted or killed )
3: half-life:
why is this piece of #### on my list?
but seriously, the start is great, but not worth buying, the only thing great about it, is all the mods =).
4: RTCW (return to cas... ah, whats the point, who dosent already know that?)
the graphics R great (cause it uses the Q3...)
the best thing that ever came out of ID!
5: GTA 3!
what can be better after a hard day, than to kick the #### out of an old lady?
or steal a big truck, drive of a cliff, and break a police car in the landing!
(did u guys know that theres this lady, i just like to call her "bithc" thats trying to BAN GTA 3 from norway, wow, what a ####ing #####, eh?
6: indiana jones and the fate of atlantis:
i borrowed this from a guy that used to go in my class loads of years ago, and i still havent returned it! he he.
i know its a little old, but its a great role-playing-adventure. Plus, im a big indiana-jones-fan!
7: urban chaos: i recomend this game alot!
i spend alot time playing this game, it totaly rocks!
buy it, cause it is thy god!
Although I think Relic and I are two of the few on the boards who were alive when these came out. Maybe he and I will play bingo togather at the old folks home tonight...
FPS i must say i liked counterstrike most. I played it from 1.0 when it was cool, but now its digging its own grave. NS will almost surtenly take over this place, when it is released...
Okay here's my list, in no particular order:
Half-Life, nice SP, pity about the xen bit at the end...
Max Payne, Cinematic single player Mmmm.
Soldier of Fortune, my multiplayer preference (until NS is released).
Command & Conquer, the whole series incuding Red Alert (I actually didn't like Starcraft)
Carmageddon, the orginal red tyre marks, vroom vroom
Anyone interested in a "most disapointing game" topic?
so, i would, no ME, ME!
BARD'S TALE.
I swear, my characters from that game were like family. I've never felt so exhausted as I did after we defeated the two hundred berserkers and the crystal golem for that Damn crystal sword.
other memorable games include xenonII
Streetfighter and mortal combat ( I like clicky games )
Gauntlet
Halflife
/Me slaps forehead
How could I forgotten?!
Monkey Island 1: Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Funny. As in cardiac arrestingly funny. No voice sound stuff though.
Loom: Cool game for brushing up on your aural skills. Basicially you play through the game "Weaving spells" with a staff and selecting a combination of 4 tones. Very cool. You could put the game CD in a normal CD player and hear all of the ambient game sounds and voices.
