ok well i seem to be having many problems so from nwo on im ganna psot em all in here

this one i dont know how to fix or had the smallest idea (whihc i can say i had on my last)
well, ill run/test my map using the worldcraft button, it'll load up half life, and nstr. It''ll go past the "loading screen" but when it shows teh console screen right after, the one where it should say 'play has joined game' or sumthing like that, an arror window comes up saying "hl.exe has errors, windows will now close the program" or sumthin along those lines.. also on occasion it'll 'crash' my computer so it reboots itself.

thanks for your time and patience, i know by now your sick of me and my errors

glad to report i figured it out.. it was quite odd indeed.

well you know in teh option tabs where it says "map properties" and has a bunch of settings, well somehow that waschanged to an object propertie, or brush instead of staying as map propertie, o si simply had to type in "worldspawn" for which property it was. Arnt i smart? only took me 6 hours of deleteing and remaking my map too! (well not really i got off for quite a while sumtime in there )

You must understand, I'm very new to mapping, I haven't even finished my first non-tutorial map but what i believe is true is as follows. R-Speeds are cause by the sides of the brush the engine can see at any one time, the get high if you have a lot of detail or a very open area, or if u map like a do, which is probably very bad and n00bish. You can lower it by removing detail and breaking LOS. (like putting in an object that blocks the players view or a twist in a hallway) You can also lower it by a lot of other things most of which i don't understand. Look around sites like Counter-Map to find links to tutorial pages that might have more.

*edit* Whoops, u asked about W-polys, i think there a part of r-speeds but see above for my experience. */edit*

I once spent 3 weeks trying to fix an error in one of my maps that caused it to crash the server I was uploading it to. Of course I then realised I'd been uploading in ASCII ffs...
