<div class="IPBDescription">Gamespy config different from HL config.</div> When I use gamespy and I bind a key it works well and fine. The problem is that when I go into my config or go into the game through the NS icon the bind isn't there. By the same effect, if I do something to my config by using the actuall config file or go into the game through the icon and do something it doesn't show up when I use gamespy. This wasn't a problem until I realized that I could see sprays by using the icon but not when I used gamespy. I was wonderning if there was an alternate config that I could go and get the best of both configs to keep all my binds but not have to re-bind them. Also, when I change something like video options etc it doesn't take effect when I use gamespy. Any solutions?

it works better then GS, and you won't have this bug.
Now if you are dead set against ussing ASE (ah pitty the fool)
ok, what version of GS are you ussing? arcade? 3D? etc
when you say <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->When I use gamespy and I bind a key it works well and fine<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> do you meen that GS has a way for you to bind keys OUTSIDE of HL? if so... There probably is a txt or cfg file somewhere either in your HL dir or your GS dir, go poking around untill you find it.
but I still stick to my guns your solutions is:
<a href='http://www.udpsoft.com/eye2/index.html' target='_blank'>ALL SEEING EYE</a>
so what abought my other stuff?
{EDIT} I just read your post again. If your using the NS shortcut that it created for you on install, its bugged. Start the game by opening half-life and then custom game. There are many posts on this forum about the shortcut being bugged. I had assumed you were using a self created shortcut to join a specific server.
{QUOTE}This is a common problem, and is due to a last-minute bug sneaking into the installer. The desktop icon that the installer creates doesn't have the working directory set properly. Just delete the desktop icon and run NS from the Start menu instead.{QUOTE}
How do I determin where my gamespy is pointing to?
EDIT: I think I figured out where it was looking to. It was attempting to use the NS folder in my half life folder, however, I run NS off C-Strike. If I run it out of the HL folder I get a corrupted shell.mdl file. Is there any way to change where is looks? I tried starting a game with the NS folder deleted from my HL folder (that was the problem, I had 2 NS folders). However, now I can't access the game from Gamespy. I tried the search for games option to see if this reset it but it failed to do so.
EDIT EDIT: BY JOV I THINK I'VE GOT IT!!!. Scot, your post helped a lot because it got me thinking about where Gamespy was looking. I hadn't realized that every time I clicked on the game half-life in the game menu it was actually looking in the half life folder. I thought half-life was used as a general term for all the half life games. I hadn't seen the other option for counter-strike, which, would presumably look in the CS folder.
I tried it out and it works fine. Thanks everyone. Now I can continue my gorge-hunts knowing that I will have my binds to keep me safe.
having both CS and HL installed, I just don't get it
oh, and install the 1.04 patch on your HL version of NS I seem to remember that is the fix for the shell.mdl (shough I aint positive)
basicaly al LARGE portion of what is in your CS dir is ALSO in your HL dir (minus a few things for playing SP + a few things for having CS)
then there are also the compatability issues with running mods from CS retail vs HL (those have been some things that have been very common in mod tech help forums <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)
the there is your ans to 'why not' <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
