    A prototype was built but never used. It lasted till the next summer.

    Maus that's amazing man! I can imagine going for a cruise on a big block of ice. Would feel weird though...

    well, all you have to do is outfit it properly

    rubber matting surounding most of it would give you a stable environment (I for one owuld not like to have to wear cleats all the time <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->) as well as providing extra insulation.

    Well, apparently the boat was to have a cooling system, similar to a normal refridgerator, but on a larger scale. That would probably be concentrated in areas that were to be exposed to more heat, I'd guess.. Not only that, but the engines were not that powerful, it travelled very slowly.

    Jeeze guys where have you humans been? We Penguins of the RNA (Royal Navy of Antarctica) have been expirimenting with this technology for years! The only reasone the Brits knew about it was b/c one of your penguins defected over to the Brits. Oh well, things where arrainged and an Orca Whale took care of him.

    Anyways im blabbing on here, For the past decade we have been secretly smuggling in wood from South America to help continue our reearch. You guys better watch out, Soon a million penguin marine force will land on your shores!

    does anything these days weigh that much? thats fuggin really really heavy, it would have BIG engines, and it owuldnt travel fast...

    people don't build stuff out of pykrete because the fact is it melts.. if even in two years, an aircraft carrier can last 20-30 years b4 its toast

    Yea but it would be made out of a big chunk of ice who cares if it melts just freeze a new one.

    I need to make me some of this... imagine how fun it would be to have unmeltable ice sitting in your front yard.
