Mirc Vs All Seeing Eye

<div class="IPBDescription">a interesting problem/bug</div> I'm wondering if anyone else has experianced this.
If I have mIRC on, then I go to update All Seeing Eye, mIRC disconnects itself from the server. Unless, while All Seeing Eye is updating, I talk in mIRC, then it won't disconnect me.

Maybe both the programs are fighting over the same port?
I have no idea, I'm no computer techie.

let me know!

    I don't have that problem, but Ive had ASE screw my games up trying to update...
    Do you have an odd mirc config, or use ssh?

    hmm, just tried it out and nothing odd (did it in you chanel even)

    do you simply hit the reload button so as to reload all the NS servers?

    or is it something else?

    If a program tries to create a socket on a port that another program has open, the API socket() will fail.

    Maybe when ASE goes to update, it sends too many packets, too fast.. and in effect you preform a DoS on yourself

    *edit* The above is very unlikely, unless you went from broadband to 56k. You can try changing the port, if the irc servers your connecting to support ssl connections, you can try those (And get more security), ask in a channel like #help to see if they support ssl connections, if they do you can use this program pretty easily <a href='http://www.bovine.net/~jlawson/coding/stuntour/' target='_blank'>http://www.bovine.net/~jlawson/coding/stuntour/</a>
    Check out the readme for instructions

    Did you try connecting via a ssl port? It seems that I have less ping timeouts, and dropped connections using ssl...

    Actually, similar happens to me when updating in ASE. XP thinks that the network cable is unplugged... though XChat does not disconnect, nor do any of my downloads abort.

    I get the feeling that ASE may kick the NIC into a different mode (promiscuous versus closed) and that the OS just can't deal with it for one reason or another. Is anyone else using a Netgear 310TX/312TX, or other National Semiconductor-based card? Just to find the common thread.

    3com card and Linksys router.

    I went to ASE's forums to look for answers, it seems this is not an unheard of problem even though most people I have spoken to don't have this problem. <a href='http://www.udpsoft.com/forum/topic.cgi?forum=3&topic=594' target='_blank'>Linky</a>.

    This is their suggestion:
    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->F2 -> Network

    You'll find settings there to determine how much of the detected bandwidth will be used.  I would recommend lowering your packets per second and see if that helps.

    <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    I'm gonna try it when I get out of the ReadyRoom we call Work. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I used to get this problem when i had one of the settings on GSA and ASE, where it sets the amount of servers to ping each second... the programs were sucking all the available bandwidth out and stopping mIRC from sending/recieving the packets it needs, causing a ping timeout and disconnecting me
