Expanding Or Upgrading

<div class="IPBDescription">why do you have to choose one?</div> It seems that a problem I’ve been reading about in the beta forums is that marines have to choose between expanding and upgrading. Naturally, most pick upgrading because they believe their marines are the most important weapon they have. Which is true. Well this seems to result in little or no outpost by the marines or lots of map control for the aliens. So here is what I think would help…

Make its so the commander puts a turret factory down in an area for 30 resources or what ever would make it balanced. Then after it’s built make it so that you can drop 3-4 turrets a phase-gate and an armory in the area of the turret factory for free. It could be subject to change on what/how many of the buildings you can build in the area of one TF, do to balancing or whatever else.
To make it so the marines cant spread so fast in the beginning make it so u have to build at least one of this buildings in the beginning, costing there normal resources, before u can build multiple ones for free in an outpost under a TF.
There could be an upgrade feature in the TF to put 3 more turrets down.
This should only apply to these building in the range of TF. If any of these buildings are built outside the TF range the cost there normal resources. So u can still sneak a pg in the corner of a hive but it cost its normal price.
Outpost still take time to build marines still have to build everything that is dropped
Resource towers are not included in this. They still cost resources to put down even if they are in TF range.

I think this feature would allow marines to upgrade and spread and have some map control just like the aliens do. I don’t think that having lots of marine outpost everywhere on the map would get that bad because, 1 it would spread the marines very thin and 2 it sounds like gorges jut rip marine outpost apart with bile bomb anyway. This might sound over powering for the marines, but I don’t think it will be. All it allows marines to do is spread and upgrade. As long as the Aliens can upgrade around the same rate I don’t see that big of a problem.     There would be 30000000000 turret factories then, one for every x turrets, just to get them for free

    Well I said that the price of the TF would be subject to change. If people started doing that in playtesting then just raise the price of the TF. And if the commander still wants to spend all his resources on building hundreds of TFs just to get 3 free turrets, that will just get torn apart by bile-bomb anyway, thats his choice. A losing choice but still his.
