Have you guys played this?
So, apparently, Splash Damage was designing Enemy Territory to be the official expansion pack to Return to Castle Wolfenstein. But I guess they got bored of developing it, because they ended up not publishing it at all. Instead, they released it as a completely stand-alone multiplayer game, for free. None of this Fileplanet subscriber-only stuff either; the game is available for anyone to download and enjoy.
And the verdict? It is really, really fun.
These guys have really found a way to create an environment suited to teamplay, and reward teamplay behavior. It is very easily possible to be ranked nubmer one in the server based on experience without killing a single person. In fact, if there's one complaint I have against the game, it's that there is too little incentive to be a vanilla soldier and just frag people =). The maps are really well designed, each with multiple strategies and well-designed choke points.
If you guys have played it, what's your favorite class? Mine happens to be the covert ops - and trust me, I am not the typical smacktard that usually takes this class. I usually get around 600 EXP in the standard 3-map cycle, or 200-250 EXP in a single-map scenario. And I get the highest frags usually, as well. Even though these guys are pretty weak compared to the grunt soldier, in the right hands (read:me) they can be unstoppable. Disguising yourself as an enemy soldier, falling into a pack of enemy soldiers, then silently picking them off with your silenced sub machine-gun - or blowing them all up with a grenade/detpack - NEVER gets old. NEVER, I say. And it's fun to use the detpacks to sabotage enemy gun emplacements and such =).

i noticed last week, however i just noticed and wolked on, not that it didn't sound interesting it was just that i was looking for a specific demo, and now you reminded me about it again
One of the best ftp's to get patches, maps, etc. (And it's not vileplanet....)
liberate the games!
destroy fileplanet!
1. I eventually got fed up with the 6 hour loading times and threw my computer out the window, Enemy Territory crashed and locked up five times before it hit the ground.
2. It could a tiny little bit more intuitive "The tank is damaged!" "Ok... Where?" etc.
i love the railgun mission
[edit] couldn't see it due to resolution bugs... Go figure... [/edit]
As for the realy long load times I had that happen to me with the ET demo version but Its never happened to me in the final version.
He can always press and hold down the G button or click L to get up the Limbo mode.
When you have done that you can see the tank on the map.
Bah, it's too easy to bring home the awards when you're a medic. It's so easy to get EXP healing people, and killing isn't a problem since your gun is quite powerful and you can just heal yourself when shot. Yawn....
Now, being a covert ops and doing it RIGHT, now that takes some skill. Sometime I'll have to take some pics of me bringing home 7 awards with the covert ops...
