Configuration Forcing?

<div class="IPBDescription">Dont like it!</div> From time to time i come upone some server which somehow forces somewhat in my configuration and i DONT WANT any STUPID script to do ANYTHING with ANY configuration WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! I also saw there some people which had blocked this config checker (or whatever it was callled), and so here is my question: how to block this ugly thing? (yea and as you may have read, my control configuration in HL is messed up from some time ago, and i have suspicion this has to do something with it and i will loose LOTS of time reinstalling half-life and (mainly) all the MODs).

And other question, today i have noticed that in my HL folder are 16 strange named files (like "°, ." etc.) with 0 size, dont you know what these could be?

    Make your config file read-only. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> Of course, if you want to change your config yourself at any point after that you'll have to take off read-only mode first.

    In addition, make a backup of your config file, make it read only, and name it to something else. For instance, if anyone screws up my config file, I simply will "exec backup.cfg" now in game and be set back all of 5 seconds.

    If you are talking about blocking r_drawview, nothing you can do about that <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I despise servers that change any of your settings. I can understand some with special .wav files that they have for the server, those are fine.

    Its like the mirrors on your car, once you have them set you don't want anyone touching them.

    There was one server I will never go to again that flipped out over a very simple script I had. The script was simply

    bind p teamsay "I am parasited dont stand near me"

    the fact that that angered the admin completly suprised me ( I accidentally double tapped 'p' so they could tell it was a script) Another server completely removed this from my config file. That is unacceptable.

    That isn't a script, that is a bind <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

    depends.

    if the change stops an exploit (eg. forcing r_drawview on) or interp it's fine and if u **** about it you don't belong here because we don't want exploiters.

    hmm i think i know...

    if you have Firearms 2.7 then that is why.. for some random reason it has tons of these files..... they do nothing... it had been checked and double checked... just an error...

    go ahead and delete them it wont do anything + they come back... i mean i played around 20 hours of FA one weekend and there was near enough 300 of the 0 kb files in there....
