Marines, The Poor, And Defenseless

<div class="IPBDescription">If you whine, it will come.....</div> Ok, let's get this straight. This post is for constructive comments. Flame anyone, and I'll report this, with a request for it to be locked. However, I think that it's an important issue.

Marines are getting res for kills again in 1.1p, and I think there's some fundemental issue with it. Mainly, it doesn't fit the story too much *I've hear possible back stories... I don't know as that they fly with me* , and it increase marines wanting to rambo, which is not right. I think that res for kills is great for aliens, and poor for marines.

That said, let's look at what everyone was worried about. Marines tech too slow, and need some extra income. Why, in the world, would they get it from killing? Why not get the needed res from, well, the RT? Here's my proposal:

o Marines do not get res for kills.

Now, there are two other options:

o Marines alway have an xtra 1/10th of a res tower. (# negotiable)

OR

o For every RT marines place, it could as like 1.25 RT's. (also negotiable value)


I think that would increase the valuse of the RT's and allow marines to tech quicker.

    Is this in the wrong forum? I think it's best to keep the resources for killing. It's possibly the most easy way. Although, if you read Dread's post about getting kills for <i>chambers</i>, that's a different story.

    I totally agree that getting rez from killing encourages rushing the hive early on the game to get as many kills as possible.

    There isnt anything inherantly unbalanced about marines getting res for kills.

    One thing that it will definately not do is encourage ramboism. Its not like the individual marine can use any extra res he earns by killing an alien. it goes into the comms pocket.

    you're joking right??? Ramboism will come of this most definatly. Commander will give orders to go out and get res towers + kill as many aliens as possible... people will rush to hives on their own gathering lots of spawn killings = lots of money.... No ramboism... Pah.. rethink it

    I haven't seen one person try to rambo just for res...But most of us play pretty well as a team together. Not like a marine gets more money for it...it helps his team in the end, so whats it hurt?

    Actually, Aliens spawn in Umbra, as far as I know.

    Besides, it goes to the Commander, so he can afford things like Heavy Armour and welders, to <i>improve</i> teamwork. It's better in the end.
