<div class="IPBDescription">First try at modelling....</div> Hello! Everyone knows me as the "Modeller Protector" But i'm trying to learn how to model so if i get good i'll be "The Modelling Modeller Protector" <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'><!--endemo-->
Anyways... I need suggestions and help to make this gun look better. And PLEASE.... Be nice?

Remember you owe me the fact you can save now <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> .Nice model for start, btw dude put 6 stacks on the cylinder instead of 12,reduces polys.
Look at the TMP I made out of it!!! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I'm pretty happy with it for the first Model iv'e made.

Damn, you guys should get some of that rudeness away <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

that can't be you first....it just can't be....
You are getting the hang of it, but your model is obviously still just made of a bunch of primitives, time to start actually moving the vertices and faces around to make more realistic shapes.
I assume your polycount will be very low at this point, so you have plenty to play with for adding details etc. ( If your polycount is high, check there aren't unneeded polys, cylinders for example, should be made with ONE stack, not the Milkshape default of six, unless you have a reason for the extra stacks..)
Good luck with it.
(Oh, and if that tank is a first ever model, I'm Elvis..)
How do i select a hole box? If i try to select it it just selects Half the box.. What am i doing wrong?
If you want to select an entire primitive, use the select groups option, if you want individual vertices ( or dots ) , set it to vertices etc etc.
Now, i've dumped the TMP Concept and are trying to make a realistic looking gun... But i have NO CLUE on how to make it realistic.... Any good tuts that i can read?

Also, I don't think I've ever seen a milkshape tutorial that asks you to stick primitives together, so you might want to look at one of those for some proper technique.
Sounds like you've either
(1) Not told it you want your model to use that texture, in which case select it all (or the bits you want that texture on), then assign the texture to if from the Materials tab.
(2) No got the correct group selected in the texture coordinate editor, in which case select it from the drop-down menu on the right.
Don't be afraid to try new thing's. Stuff you havent seen in tutorial's, etc. If it works, great!
Dont restrict yourself to learning only with weapon modeling. Some of the best tutorials I have seen are based upon modeling an aircraft. <a href='http://www.inicia.es/de/lorenmarti/tutorials_01.htm' target='_blank'>Check this link</a> for some links to some good aircraft modeling tutorials.
Last but not least, keep at it. Don't give up. The more ya learn the better you will do. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Again, I would highly suggest some aircraft modeling tutorials. I did the WW2 style aircraft tutorial at that link (seems to have been removed from maxhelp.com though <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> ) one day. Next day I decided to try and model one of my fav WW2 aircraft. A P47-D Bubble Jug fighter. Widely used in WW2 for dive bombing missions and bomber escort. This is what I came up with...

Unfortunatly. Never got to finish it because my HD crashed soon after <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> Haven't gotten back into modeling again yet.

novadays the stack is default of 12,atleast by me.
