Ns Forums - Tapping For The Best

Hi, you may remember me from a while back.
I've been and gone, and since then the forums have got a lot bigger. There is an astounding amount of information available to anyone who wants to know about 1.1 or wants to know something about mapping help, the NS background - or even a rap for ONOS. But unfortunately, there's also a great deal of spam - not real spam mind you, just stuff that gets in the way while your looking for something.
It seems to me that the gut reaction of most people is to say "OMG use teh search j00 llama". Busy people do not have time to look through searches, busy people with crappy connections especially.
So I thought...why not have some kind of area where all the best pieces of information, up to date links and anything else that could possibly help people out, well filed and easy to access. It could be a website, or a forum that the admins could post in (and then lock). It seems to make sense to me. For the not-so-regular, it would just be doing them a favour, helping them find out where that dambed shell.mdl is or what is the status on the maps for 1.1.
So whaddaya think? If it was a website I would be very glad to help out, run or design it. Of course I'd need to work closely with regulars who know every thing there is on these forums.
I think I've forgotten some important part, but screw it. I can't have been that important.

I'd like to see some kind of collection of "favorite" posts (with their respective favorite responses) *somehow* *somewhere* This kind of archive could also serve as a more convenient summary of common things, a place to check before searching.

My main concern here is that these things (yeah I did just throw them up, like I said I don't know my way around here) aren't under our control and my be deleted/renamed/ changed at any point, to our loss.
Cough *bump*
It's not just a problem of using search, if you notice the number of views of non-gameplay/off-topic type posts vs. those that have some bearing on the game you'll notice they usually have half if even that the number of views. This tells me that the people who ask repetitive questions are not only those that don't use the search, but those that don't read the forums except to post...most useless stuff. They expect their question hasn't been asked because they don't read the important stuff basically.
It just seems that most of the community would rather talk about how they owned XXX clan or a bad server admin or argue about tactics than to discuss questions and suggestions which might actually affect gameplay.
It seems those of us who read the forums for something other than a glorified chat client are doomed to repeat our stores of knowledge to those who aren't willing to take the time out of their busy day to look for it themselves. In short, even though I might find a webpage full of all the important information, chances are, the majority of the people who ask questions won't even bother looking there.

Needs abit of a spring clean mind, as certain people took the thread as an opportunity to have a discussion
