I finally fixed the problem with my map crashing so here goes. Tell me what you think of this hive. And yes it is a big hallway, I wanted somthing different!

I think you should do something with the lighting, it looks really boring now imo. Also the floor could use something to make it look more interesting. And it seems like a very long room so marines might have an easy time to spawn-camp. Also the roof could use some kind of pilars to make it harder to jp. And the inside of the pipe looks wierd, why would they have a half-pipe, and why would it be empty, try makeing the inside of the pipe black, and have some water comeing out. Also maby try alligning the textures a little better on the pipe, even though it is a pain in the a**. Sorry for all this critisism. and one more thing, the back wall is also very booring, only 1 texture and thats it.
:EDIT: Oh yea the room is lighted by the skylights, there are no lights so that is why the lighting looks as it does. See all od the skyloghts in the celing?
The other thing i'd say is right around the actualy hive the hall way should be REALLY infested, the floor shouldn't be clean, have some growth build up right around it, like remember in the original ns trailer when they look down the hallway and its got some growth on the walls but farther down theres just mounts of crap w\ some of the ship sticking out of it. Something like that, the hive looks a bit out of place right now, like it could go anywhere in the infested hallway, this is the epicenter of the infestation the hive has made its self at home this is the apex of the infestation MAKE US FEEL IT!
Or do i need new glasses?
I have a suggestion to that light-thing, either you get more light, or; i would get some shadows and dark spots into that hive location, shadows and dark spots create fear to the marines when they are trying to investigate for any hidden gorges <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Why does a sky that's light is obviously grey color the rooms green? Sorry, I don't get that <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->
I've seen some tutorial on environmental lighting for Quake: First pic was the light the mapper assumed to be good. Well it was quite ok. Second pic was a light computed by a program from the skybox. Man did that look good. Like an automagical contrast enhancer and much more realistic.
And as I see you definitly do not use QuArK, cause it has the perfect tools for aligning textures around pipes, vents, pillars. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> It works like that: Allign the texture on one face as it should be, select and tag the next face of the vent, select 'wrap around pillar'. Done. Easy huh?

That is where I get the green tint from. And No I don't use quark. I can't get the damn thing working!
It's boring, make the shady bits way darker, and the lighting from the skylights more intense, and preferably less white/green
Next to that, if the hive location will generally stay like this... well... I think it sucks <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
From a gameplay point of view you can just about shoot everything that spawns or walks around.

one of the boxes has a steep side, don't know if this is point of view, or if it'[s supposed to be a lid
the boxes are humongous btw <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> maybe close them all, I don't think they will add anything to the gameplay when they are opened up, if they are closed maybe the aliens have a little chance to jump at a jp'er or two <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
put the Rt somewhere else, don't put it so close to the hive, because as far as can be seen on th pics it's practically under the hive.
