An Idea To Promote Marine Teamwork

<div class="IPBDescription">ideas from various places molded into 1</div> Ok, been reading alot on the beta and general forums about rambos / marine res for kills / teamwork lately, well ive just had an idea and thought id see what u lot think of it, heres how it works.

Someone mentioned about marines only getting res for kills if there are other marines nearby. ie a squad.
While this was mentioned on the beta forum: increased accuracy/dmg etc when in a squad.

Ive kinda melded these ideas into this:- Fear

Now a solo marine stomping into the hive of some alien species is likely to be a little affraid, less so if with another marine, and even less if with a squad. So to encourage marines moving in squads My idea would consist of a new bar/gague/number on the GUI which indicates fear level. ie terrified (alone), afraid (team m8 nearby), worried (2 team m8s nearby), indifferent (3 team m8s nearby) each level of fear affects both accuracy of marine either by adjusted LMG/HMG spread, or judders or something (im not quite sure what) and the res recieved for each downed Kharaa.

Well thats the basic idea. Kinda like the morale in the x-com series, except u cant make a real person run away in a game from an in game alien.. uh what you think?

    I dunno, this sounds a little too much about the mod Front Line Force. In FLF, nearby friendlies increased your accuracy/damage/stamina/speed to a point where noone would move without a buddy nearby. This doesn't encourage teamwork, it requires it.

    For NS, one person guarding the base on his own should have the same accuracy/speed as anybody else. Other one person scouting missions or guard duties should have the same benefits as a squad of five. Teamwork isn't necesarily always moving together and sticking together, its the whole team working for a group of goals to conquer the opposing side. A lone scout would be as much of a benefit to the team as a group of five assaulting the hive.

    Thats why I don't think friendly marines should be given benefits for sticking together, if you want to reward them, reward them for accomplishing goals and listening to the commander.

    not really <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    anyway, even if they were forced to move together, it's good. The best way to win in FLF is by teamwork. You might win through luck, but if you have people straggling into the enemy fortification one-by-one you will most likely lose. Again it's not impossible to win without some semblance of teamwork (doesn't necessarily entail moving together) but it's encouraged... teamwork is good.

    anyway don't start a new darn topic about morale, if you need to go do a search <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> you'll find me <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
