Custom Sprays

<div class="IPBDescription">I.e, how do I make one?</div> I did a search and couldn't find any relavent posts, so here I go:

How do I make a custom spray image? I know it has to be a bmp, and I know it has to go in Half-life/logos, but i'm obviously missing something, because the one I made didn't work! I know it doesn't have to be 64x64 pixels, since i've seen loads of custom sprays that are huge, and I know it doesn't have to be black-and-white, since i've seen loads of custom sprays im colour.

So, what am I doing wrong?

Colored sprays are not bmps in the logos directory. You can have one colored spray named pldecal.wad... but... google is your friend...

Problem is, servers are ignoring custom sprays lately for some reason.
Its really annoying to press "T" and see that ugly lambda symbol. <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

The easiest way to make a spray is to save an image as a .bmp

then get "Wally" (a feaky program) to turn it into .wad

REDEYE, that's because the server you went on did not allow downloading. It's a server-side option. Try a different server. The reasoning behind it is pitiful and sad... porn sprays, hate-sprays, and so on. :b The few immature people have to screw it up for everyone else.

In addition, <span style='color:orange'>*Phased*</span> to Artwork, where this belongs.

But this is on Roobs server and he didn't do anything...if you mean downloading is the small orange bar that comes on the bottom of your screen, then that still works.

Yeah, I hate that too. Mind you , I've got probs with some of my sprays - I've got one with Agent Jones from the Matrix performing his recursive bulletdodge on the rooftop. It says "OMG! LAAAG!" on it. But it comes out ultrablurry - you can't make out Jones's details at all. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> So I've had to go with other things.

REDEYE, there is a serverside option similar to (if not the same as) cl_allowupload 1/0 and cl_allowdownload 1/0 whereby the server can regulate if custom sprays are downloaded/uploaded to the server by players, and if other files e.g. maps, sounds etc. can be downloaded from the server <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
