Softscreen Problem

<div class="IPBDescription">help me please! :)</div> This problem just started happening recently, within the last few weeks, nothing i have done i can think of would trigger it. What happens is when im playing a game of NS and i hit ESC it takes me to the options menu like it should. but when i hit Resume Game, or ESC again to return to my game, it shows the NS Soft Screen (pic it displays behind the console) and i can hear the game playing, and apparently im in control i just cant see, because the soft screens infront lol. the only way i have been able to fix the problem is by shutting down the game and restarting the game which is a pain in the ****, because i adjust stuff often. Anyone got any idea's as to why this would happen?

I tried uninstalling the game all the way, and reinstalling it, no change.
