    The only time I have ever heard of the "snow" effect is when overclocking video cards, especially when some Nvidia cards are clocked a little too high they produce the same effect.

    Im not too sure what would cause it on a Ati card though.

    well... unfortunately I don't think it's a simple problem like that... as I am very anti-overclocking =\

    my radeon is running at factory default... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Does the app that you're running explicitly support the Radeon that you're using? I've seen the "snow" effect before, in BF1942, with Radeon cards. (EA does not support ATI.) Never seen it with a GeForce, though.

    It's possible that your PSU may be underpowered.. the R9500 wants a 300W PSU at minimum to operate (and will warn you and disable itself if you don't have one) though if you have a heavy load in your machine it may need a beefier unit to operate correctly. However, this is unlikely due to the following:

    Looking at the lower-right of the screen in that shot, it reads 'Radeon 9700', not Radeon 9500.

    Either:
    A) Your system mis-identified it and is using the wrong pipeline
    B) You used a soft-tweak to kick it up to thinking it's a 9700.

    In either case, this is caused due to the fact that R9500s are 9700s on whom a few of the pixel shade pipelines did not pass muster during the test, and were disabled (4 on the 9500, 8 on the 9700). Your system is forcing them to access, and they cr*p out. Put it back into 9500 mode, and the visual errors should disappear.
