Problem With Resolution

<div class="IPBDescription">ironic title</div> Ok, problem I'm having, is that in windows xp pro, even though I go in and set my resolution to 800x600x32, every time I restart windows, it resets back into 640x480x16 mode. I think it has something to do with the fact I have a radeon 9700 pro.
I'd been using modded omega driver's (www.omegacorner.com), and wanted to try out the newest catalyst 3.4's, so uninstalled the omega's from a previous time, and installed the cat. cat inevitably sucked (damn you ati), so I went back to the omega. Now having the aforementioned problem. Anyone have a similar experience and was able to clear it up?

All I have is a TNT2 so I can't really help you too much. My only suggestion would be to try an earlier version of the Catalyst drivers. I know with nVidia, their new drivers are often buggy, so maybe Ati is the same...

Use Cat 3.2, that's what most benchmark sites still use and I hear it's less buggy.

The new Cat drivers are the worst I've seen, graphical corruption everywhere (try minimising a game and you'll see).

Go back to 3.2, far better

Personally, I prefer Cat3.1... probably the stablest out at the moment, and least likely to give you visual errors. But yeah... Cat3.4 are essentially Beta drivers. They tried to put in more Good Stuff, and messed up the old stuff in the process.

When i still was a slave to ATI, In fact I get 99fps with my geforce 4 mx440 and 10 with my radeon, but anyway, 3.1 catylyst, Dx 9a was my optimal setup
