If The Tsa Were Real

Would you join?
So anyways. If the TSA were real (remember the military recruiters at your school) would you join?
I mean they would probably have, a cool website, scholarship money for college lol etc.

Cool TV commericals ==> Cool footage of decked out Frontiersman in Jet packs and HMGS zipping around.
Then it would say.
You could earn up to 50,000 Credits for your college education! Come talk with your local recruiter today!
Trans System Authority, Standiing on the edge of the unknown, Defending Humanity and what ever would threaten it, or however it goes.

People at your old high school would have TSA Frontiersman recruiters handing out free pens and key chains, telling nice storys about their first phase gate jump etc.

So anyways,would you join?
I mean has anyone here ever survied an entire game with out dying once? Or getting bit down to 48 hp which is = to getting a leg or arm bitten off? Even in non pub servers.

I dunno. The TSA sounds like they they have the same problem as the StarShip Troopers Mobile Infantry.

They are designed to fight against humans. Not swarms of fast moving aliens. Same goes for the marines in ALIENS.
Making them somewhat "expendable". Perhaps a little to expendable for me. "When one dies another phases in from the orbiting troop ship to take his place."

They must have huge numbers of combat casualties that they try to keep out of site lol.

    In short: No.

At length: Why on earth would i be convinced to go and kill people. All the armed forces are just hired thugs. People employed to go kill on order. To quote Bill Hicks "If we ever need you to go bomb the **** out of a nation of little brown people, we'll call on you". If, in England, they create some sort of mandatory millitary service i'm going to parade myself around in hotpants with a handlebar 'tasche and see if they'll take me on then.

In conclusion, no matter how cool it sounds, being a hired killer is +NOT+ cool. Guns are +NOT+ cool. Murdering people because some beurocrat tells you to is +NOT COOL+.

Whoa buddy, let not generalise every soldier in the world just b/c they are in a nations military.

Mons E was a soldier as are many of the people in this forum.

If you are in an armed conflict you fight for your friends next to you when the Sh_t hits the fan not b/c you happen to believe in what ever opinion your nations leader does. The people you are engaging are also soldiers, people trying to kill you. Its them or you. The people in that tank that you engage have families as well, however they have the same goal when they see you. To kill you. They took the same risks and responsibilites as you did when you enlist.

It sounds like you are basing your very emotional opinion based on the very recent happenings of the world.
Let it be known that a great deal of the "hired thugs of the miltary" are fathers, mothers, nurses, doctors, your neighbor, (The navies Seabees do humanitarian aid missions for developing countries) Mechanics lawyers, priests, rabbis, other religous officals etc. I dont know of any solder, current or Ex who joined up just so they can go kill people. maybe to get $$ for college, to get work expirience, whatever, but not to simply kill people. Those people woudnt even make it past the psych tests they give you upon trying to join.

Sorry, i'm not making a rash generalisation of the troops themselves, it's more a contempt i've harboured since a very young age for violence. I dispise it. I dispise moreso people who are paid to do it. But i +know+ they're there to follow orders and nothing else.

Take Hitler, for example (a pretty extreme example), I'm positive that not every single Nazi soldier wanted to persecute and murder the jews, but they're not going to turn their back on their country. And moreso, their orders.

It deeply saddens me that the world's nations feel the need to have armies. I admit they're necissary to stop threats upon themselves. But travelling across half the globe to kill innocent people, and their own troops?

But one criticism, if the screening proceedure is so rigorous, how come every single squaddie i've ever had the misfortune to meet has been an arrogant, stuck up, prejudice pile of excrement?

It's much too late then. Your conscious decision happens much earlier. When you sign up, you need to make sure that the goals of the people who will command you coincide with your own. You don't lose personal responsibility for your actions just because you follow orders.

That said, I see no logic in engaging creatures like the Kharaa in CQB. I wouldn't sign up for such a stupid operation.

You wouldn't be killing other humans anyway, you'd be killing some creatures that just wiped out the crew of a ship or station. Anyway, no i wouldn't, because i'm a wimp. I'd hide behind the comm chair, or i'd be the pilot of the ships that deliver them to the stations. Yeah, pilot. Nice safe job. No space-flying Kharra. yet.

I wouldn't join it by a long shot. Wouldn't like the prospect of having something slightly larger than a dog moving incredibly fast at me with it's razor sharp teeth poised to strike. If the aliens were real I would join their army right away though! Being able to cling to walls, regen, and stuff.

I'm all for defending armies, which means I will join army in about year because Finlands army is only meant for defending.

Would I join TSA if we would now live in Natural Selections world? No way. I don't have problems with bullets and human enemies but the thought of being ripped a part by Skulk or being devoured alive by an Onos? Hell no. Though if Kharaa threat would be huge enough there would be prolly an international draft.

I think if the war with the aliens was real, it would be fought in a different way anyway. Small groups? b*llox, send in 400 troups, armed to the teeth with rocket launchers and stuff. Small tanks, those robot-buggy things with an automatic gun on top. Or just blow the stations up.

Given the choice between travelling across space to get eaten by ravenous aliens or working in an office where the wort thing you have to deal with is a broken coffee machine, I'd take the latter.

I wouldn't because the commanders in the TSA are retarted who sends in the military and has them actually do research on the battle field!?!? I could just see General Patton going "omg hurry up with those armor upgrades. I need to research sherman tanks before the battle of the bulge starts!

I'd join up, because if the NS world were a reality i think it would in fact be more like Starship troopers, colonisation of other planets = huge populace = huge army = less chance of getting stabbed in the thigh by a huge alien prong tusk mouth jaw thing.

Plus they just sick you in a tub of goo and rebuild you anyway \o/
