Any?
Anyone know if they are planning on adding any new Marine weapons in 1.1? I know they said that they are going to change the Grenade Launcher model but are there going to be any totally new weapons?

If so, Flayra is being very silent about it.

As far as I know (and I don't know very far), there are no new weapons, but the grenade launcher and LMG look different (they took the scope off after so many n00bs asked "why won't the scope work??!!!one").

Also, the LMG sounds different apparently, making it sound more cool. (i dont think i can say bad-assed on this forum)

Oh yes, and the aliens get a Skorpian that hovars without flaping

    Hmmm. I suspect that it's a conspiracy.

I imagine they wouldn't as they already have enough to bother balancing as it is.

Thank god they took the scope off the LMG, it never made sense being there :/

If the marines get any new weapon in 1.1 there must have been much "hush hush" because they will have to balance it wont they?

However, on other fronts, the aliens will get a "Scorpian that hovars without flapping", the ultimate breed of the kharraa. Not only does it require the player to evolve through ALL lifeforms first in order, but requires 100 res and the skill to not flap. If the user flaps during the said scorpions use while hovaring, he will instantly die.

I still find it funny that people are bothered by the scope. It has a pretty darn obvisous reason for being there if anyone actually read the story-line.

Basically, do you guys reallly think they intended the LMG to be used in fighting aliens in close intership battle? No likely, it was originally used on other human forces in probally, wider, more open areas.

Thats why there is a scope there, sweet lord....people are odd.

The scope is there to detect the hovaring scorpians, because you can't hear them because they hovar without flapping.

Flayra is going to hate me for this, but there is a new weapon for marines. It needs 3 team mates to fire and operate.

It’s a spud gun. The commander has to drop potatoes (There’s now a new option in the menu "Need Potatoes", one team member loads it up, the other team mate aims, then the last one pulls the trigger.

It does about 700 damage per potato, and the potatoes are rigged and can go thru walls. It instantly kills onos, and takes out a hive really fast. Also the potato has happy faces on it and when the player gets killed by one the last thing he sees is a happy face in front of the potato.

When loaded with 300 potatoes, it only takes 10 seconds to empty (30 potatoes per second).

Uhhh you are aware that most rifles scopes are detachable right? You are also very aware that people in reality do not run around firing their weapons from the hip. In a close indoors environment (unless you had an OICW) you would normally remove the scope from the gun.

This is because a scope gets in the way of the iron sights of the LMG. If you have every fired a weapon before you will know that you actually use a little iron bar (or similar) on the end of the gun to aim.

You don't have a crosshair in real life :/

Hence, why it is more realistic to actually have the scoped REMOVED in an INDOOR environment. This is also where there aren't any sniper rifles in this game too BTW.

It's the first webbed thread in the suggestion thread. Just read the first (admittingly painful) post.

First of all, thanks for such a splendid but chewing as I am sure you are just years more knowledgeable than me in this world of Natural Selection and is not real. Its sci fi dude. It does not matter if they have scope or not was what I was pretty much saying in my last post. They could have fuzzy dice on the dam gun, as long as it shoots the same it does not matter.

And yah, so most scopes are detachable, what if maybe...just maybe it had other purposes..such as the OICW? What it the scope was attached to the HUD of the troop. There can be any number of reasons that we can make up, which is what makes fiction so great.

They already are removing the thing anyway. I simply stated that it was no big deal that they already had a scope, and for someone to be anal about it was ridiculous, since there are way bigger issuses at hand.

As for the insulting my intelligence part of you post where you stated that if I ever fired a gun in real life..well that was grand. I am in currently in the service and have since joined the Base Honor Guard, and became pretty familar with the M1 Garand, the m14 carbine and the m16a2. Also, unless its a pistol, there is always a rear and front sight, not just a single one.

On another note, yah people dont shoot from the hip, but they also rarely shoot human eating wallwalkers either.

Your post proved my point about weird people on the forum who just like to get eaten up about the little things.

I liked the LMG scope. Why can't "It looks cool" ever satisfy people? And it worked in the storyline... "The TSA faces many foes in many environments. The scope is used for long range, and its activation is ill-suited for spacecraft.

Ok, I don't usually post here but I have a marine weapon I think would possibly add to the gameplay.... handheld frag grenades... skulk in the vent? No problem, toss a nade up there.

I think that if the marines want to kill the skulk in the vent, they should have to get a grenade launcher. A vent is supposed to skulk territory.
