Readyroom.org - No.1 For Ns?

Marine0IMarine0I Join Date: 2002-11-14 Member: 8639Members, Constellation

Yeah right
I think its about time that MonsE came clean with the NS community and just admitted it. RR.org has absolutely nothing to do with Natural-Selection - its nothing more than a pimp site for that game Samurai. Honestly - go have a look.

Thank the Lord that man isnt a dev or we would have the comm placing little tiles near the Kharaa hive

I'd say it's pretty decent for putting out news every two days. We mostly know everything that's going into 1.1 now so what else do you report besides news on new fan sites and other cool stuff? It's not like the forums where (some days) every other post is, "OH THAANX FLAYRA u R tEh ROX MAN!!! YR GEMA iz s0 c0oL!!11!1"

Not that supporting someones game and telling them they did a good job is bad...it's just when there's 4 posts about it on the front page filled with 40 replies each is when it gets annoying. I bet he gets a rash of hickey marks all over when you people spam that stuff

Your right, it does put out news every 2 days. Samurai news. I suspect that budget traitor was more traitorus than we suspected.

Admittedly MonsE doesnt have much else to post, and yes it does make things more interesting at rr.org - but still its an ns site that devotes a hell of a lot of time to Samurai. I know the 1.1 media hype is coming but still, surely there must be SOMETHING ns to talk about.

Actually, there was one big newsupdate about Samurai, stirred up by a direct E-Mail from Samurais developers (not to mention the *cough*motivation*cough* of free T-Shirts ). Otherwise, he just posted stuff about the Samurai tourney, which is after all held in the NS community.
Oh, and Mons is a developer

Let's face it, Samurai is a good occupation of our time while waiting for 1.1 to come out...I mean, if it comes out

There have been about 250 distinct news posts in readyroom.org's history. This does not include the various non-news sections. Of those posts, 3 have been about Samurai. That' roughly 1%.

Right now, I am trying to keep people interested in staying the NS *community*. If that means adding in some extra games with prizes that encourage socialization and remind people about the NS Store, then we will have some Samurai matches. I chose that game because it is fun, is easy to learn, is multiplayer, and does not compete in anyway with NS. It works well in an IRC setting and doesn't require big organized teams either. The beta forums give the majority of NS news right now, and in a more timely and controversial (thus good PR) manner than I have the time to do on RR.

There is a lot of NS to talk about - it is mostly being held in reserve for the PR blitz though, as 1.1 doesn't have enough graphical differences for me to just spam up a bunch of pics every couple days like in the pre-1.0 release time.

You probably could have figured all this out for yourself, Marine01, if you had used your brain. Thank goodness, eh? Would you perhaps like to take over the site? I'm working about 80 hours a week right now, before I come home and build NS PR reserves, so if you'd like to run RR.org I'm sure you'd do a much better job than I. Otherwise, shut your piehole kthnxbai.

Ok, that was probably too harsh. My grandmother just died and I was up at 3am talking to my Dad and his immediates. Sorry for coming across so angrily (although I don't feel a huge urge to edit my post).

    This is OT:

I didn't know forum admins can edit their posts without the "has been edited" notice.

I have noticed this because i saw MonsieurEvil's post had a very minor typo in it, and now its *fixed*

Also, the "kthxbai" wasn't there when he first posted it.

Hehe, after installing these forums over 5 times at 3 different locations for 2 different sites, yeah I knew that. Fun little feature. Scary what admins can do when some little option is flipped in the adminCP.

Of coures n-s.org is the no.1 for ns but readyroom definately comes second. It seems that other fansites just post stuff that I know already(from beta-discussion), but from time to time, rr.org throws out a bone that hasn't been chewed before.

I hear MonsE has informers inside Dev team *nods with meaningful expression on face*

Edit: Sorry for you loss, I feel you man. You are lucky for having a grandmother in the late thirties. Something I will never have

RR.org rules... Did you see that blury pic of that marine weapon anywhere else??? i didnt think so... plus the Pre-Selection does have to do with NS so that keeps you interested... If you take about the game itself every post... you would soon run out of things to say.. srry bout the grandmother MonsE
