There's a few bands that I've liked ever since I first heard them. My list is short because, IMO, most bands just don't have the same 'staying power' as the ones on the following list:

    Econoline Crush
    Our Lady Peace
    Linkin Park
    Oleander
    12 Stones

Guess I should at least post some of my picks...

Evanescence - Do not for the love of jebus knock them as a Linkin Park with a female front(wo)man. If all you've heard is Bring me to Life, youre missing out on some good stuff. Though everyone I know praises Amy Lee as a lyrical goddess, I don't think they've really shown her voice range yet.

Gin Blossoms - I like them. I'm probably the only person on the planet that does. Had a one hit wonder run in the 90's with some of their songs finding their way into the movie Empire Records.

Green Day - Good stuff, though the lyrics make absolutely no sense to me.

Hoobastank - Overplayed songs? Yes. Good songs? Yes.

Smashing Pumpkins - Can't explain this one. I like them. Wish they were still around and Billy Corgan would forget Zwan because they suck.

Staind - Some people complain their just another nu metal band. They probably havent heard the 14 Shades of Grey album. Though I know a lot of fans say they sold out with it by going softer, I think musically its better than just wailing away on a guitar EVERY song.

The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets - I'm probably the only person on the forums that listens to them. I put one of their songs in my CS video that I posted the link to here. Their a small canadian garage band obsessed with H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos. Toren Atkinson, frontman, actually has I believe two cards in the Mythos CCG featuring his art, and he's pretty good.

    *Edit*

Yea they arent a band, its a guy who cant play an instrument who just whines all the time and sounds like every other punk group.

FSOL. Basically invented the UK dance scene in the early 80s. Still cutting edge today. You need look no further for calming ambient, and hard and dirty industial dance.

    Future Sound Of London.

The once streamed an album live, called ISDN (a good few years ago) How thirteen-thirty seven is that?

As fantastic as your list looks I had to focus on that one above. Really? Do you like just him or do you listen to lots of other Noise artists?
  • esunaesuna Rock Bottom Join Date: 2003-04-03 Member: 15175Members, Constellation
I don't listen to much noise really, be it more the fact that i don't know anyone to tell me what artists are around. Other noise-y type stuff would be Navicon Torture Technologies, Genocide Organ, Whitehouse, Speedranch, going to stuff like 2nd Gen and so on.
