Cyberpunk is defined as literature/art showing man in the struggle with his own creation, technology. Cowboy Bebop, although my all-time favorite series, hardly qualifies for that.

Battle Angel Alita and Gunnm Last Order (Same story)
I should mention that I hate Alita with a passion. Yes, there may be some kind of cyberpunk style setting below all the over-gibbed brainless pummeling, but I honestly never had the patience to look for it.
As I said - I don't doubt it <i>is</i> there, I just can't stand the gory colors the picture is painted in. Let the plot be as clever as you wish it to be - if it includes rocket-propelled hammers, exploding heads, and blood fountains, I just don't care.

Battle Angel Alita is an extremely well thought out manga. Underneath the action is an EXTREMELY intelligent plot.
Its sorta like NS, where not many appreciate the technical side with the nanites and such ;p
