Running CD and NS is one click?
Could anyone tell me if it is possible to run NS and CD in one click, through a single shortcut without having to use a cmd batch program?

Thanks

    A batch program is good...

But suggest you to use .hlla to run your game, it runs CD automatically for you.

ASE will too. This thread explains it all.

    HLSW does it too.

Flayra wants to include hllink in NS1.1... I'd only use this if it could be configured to launch HLSW instead

I'm still curious why you wouldn't want to use a little batch file...

It's an option. Go into the options dialog, then "Connecting" tab, then set the path for Cheating-Death and check the "Start Cheating-Death if required" checkbox.

The best part of all this is that HLSW will ONLY launch CD if the server requires it. IE, it won't launch CD if you try to connect to a VAC server.

What about just putting C-D in start up? Thats what I do. Then again I don't play games other then HL, but it's simpler then a batch file.

    I like my method best

I go into a server...realize that its CD required...type disconnect. Get irritated and run C-D....then realize I haev to download an update which gets me more upset, then I run it and go into the server. Then I take it out on everyone in the server

From all of my testing this only works for Win XP

All you have to do is open the natural selecition shortcut and add the path to cheating death (i.e. f:\valve\cheating-death\cdeath.exe) before the path to natural selection and then add a space.

here is my shortcut for an example:
    F:\Valve\Cheating-Death\cdeath.exe F:\Valve\Counter-Strike\cstrike.exe -game ns

i left out all the other switches to save space. Also make sure you are in the "target:" textbox when you do this.

Also when you quit out of ns then cd closes down too. you never have to worry about starting up cd again.
One extra thing though, if cd detects an update, ns does not startup.
