<div class="IPBDescription">Marine and skulk</div> The LMG felt suddenly, very small in the hands of the lone Marine, as from around the distant corner, peeked a single skulk.
His body armor seemed to fuse together the instant his eyes met the creature's. His arms and legs felt stiff and he felt the pressure bearing down on his lungs, like heavy hands on his chest, keeping him from sucking in the air.
It casually slid from the corner and into the hallway, which exacerbated the Marine's condition further. This sign of aggression was extremely rare for a lone skulk. It meant one of two things: The skulk had friends, or the skulk had gone mad.
Either one spelled danger or death for the Marine.
Weakly, he raised the weapon to his shoulder, and drew a bead on the distant quadruped. It seemed to know that it was being aimed at, and sprung from the cold steel floor, moving with impossible agility.
The Marine fired, shots ringing up and down the metallic corridors, and beginned to back away.
The skulk moved like a snake, slithering along the walls and cieling. The sparks of desperately aimed shots exploded around it. It almost seemed like intuintion to the Marine, liike the skulk was moving faster than the bullets were.
The Marine's body shivered as he focused his eyesight closer to read his HUD which read that he was down to ten bullets in the magazine. The skulk was bounding towards him.
A dry magazine fell from the side of the gun, clattering to the floor as the Marine, panic stricken, slid in a fresh one. He raised the weapon again, and found the hallway empty.
"****," he cursed aloud. He scanned the area, terrified. He continued to back away, wearily, afraid to turn around to find the skulk had manuevered itself behind him.
The skulk, with a sort of grunt, dropped from the cieling. It was still a decent distance from teh Marine, but it resumed it's charge. The LMG fired wildly, sweeping back and forth as did the skulk, zig zagging towards the helpless soldier between a hail of lead.
One final leap, and the skulk took to the air, slicing through the gap between them with it's claws positioned to drive through his armor, jaw gaping, throat screaming louder than any gun.
As abruptly as the flight began, however, it ended as a knife thrust deep inside of the skulks throat. The screech stopped and was replaced by a gurgle.
The Marine released the handle of his blade, and teh skulk stumbled on the floor, trying to cough the knife out like a dog would try to cough out food that it was choking on. The skulk swayed left, then right, vomitting onto the floor a strange mixture of things, but mostly blood. It's legs gave way, and it layed down, stomach rising and falling violently and sporadically, and then it's body went entirely slack.
the Marine pulled his blade from it's neck, and replaced it in his belt. Shakily.

I really like how the marine finally sacked up and knifed the skulk. Are you planning to make more of this story or is it just about this one fight?
