Brief update

Elysium
I don't know what I've posted for the forum people here so I thought I'd drop this brief update.

Elysium did not make the update. Why? Simply because I didn't want to stress myself out over it. My creative ability to map comes and goes lately, and when the vision isn't there, it is really hard for me to map.

Added to this, I consider Elysium to be my first map. Tutorials aside, I have 4 rmf files from before Elysium, and of them I think only one will compile and run. When I started this I knew nothing about r_speeds, plane counts, or texture usage.

I know it was really unprofessional for me to miss the deadline, but I'm not going too be hard on myself. If I slacked off at the end, it was out of opposition to the tendency to freak out. As I've said before, I look at Elysium as a personal challenge. Yes, maybe that deadline was part of the challenge. However, sometimes you can win battles that lose the war.

I have not given up on Elysium.

I'll look forward to playing your map on either a future release or on a custom map server all the same. Stick with it and I'm sure you'll do fine. Best of luck to you.

Exactly, Keep at it Kaytee, your map looks awesome, whatever you do, don't rush it, take your time and do it right, can't wait to see the final product!

same as above: Take your time, i'm looking forward to see your map in future releases and understand your decision very well... As most of us are hobby-mappers, we aren't used to follow deadlines as much as some professionals, we grow with our work and I'm sure you may have lost this battle but you will win the war!

I was really looking forward to play Elysium when NS came out after all those screens. And now when you say that this is one of your first attempts at mapping makes it even more impressive. :0

Good luck and (as everone else has told you earlier in this thread) take your time!

Wow KT, that screenshot looks really amazing. I *love* the way you textured it to create such a detailed feeling. That plus the actual brush detail... quite the hallway. Wonderful job on the lighting too. That shot is just screaming personality and... professionalism.

    Keep it up, lookin great.

I think you made the right choice. Pressure kills art.

That's actually one of the sexiest hallways I've seen. ever. You certainly have talent, but just like my coding abilities it seems to come and go. I hear ya buddy, I'm exactly the same way. I await the completion of this masterpiece quite eagerly! Don't rush yourself, and get this done right.

Wow, I come back to look again, and it's even better. I mean it KT, this is really great. I think it may even have a higher place in my mind than your old dropship/airlock.

Elowind, those are light_spots. The single best entity you'll find in the Half-Life engine.

hey btw talking about light spots, This and func_button dont work for me in the NSTR so i use trigger for both the doors and lift, and cant use the light spots (which i wanted to use alot in the map).

btw again. It really looks very nice Killtoy, and i understand why you didnt rush your map.
