<div class="IPBDescription">banned but wanna play at server</div> i was banned from CHI MAYHEM NS because i was fooling around entering in rcon password just seeing in a can guess it... but now i am IP banned plzz help!!!!!

I can't do anything to help you, but I can honestly say that does sound highly unfair and you should be let back in.

I can't really say much, unless you had the owners permission, you should *not* have been trying to guess the password. They thought you were trying to crack (not hack, crack) their server. It was a bad thing to even try without their permission. Do you think they would be stupid enough to make it something you can guess? SO why bother trying? All I can say is find a different server, if I operated a server you would be IP banned and WonID banned.

Bored or not, what you did was stupid. You deserve the ban for even bothering. Find another server and try not to screw up again.

if you were banned it's becuase you messed up, find the forums for the server (if any) if not then submitt a desperate E-mail to the op saying you were sorry begging etc etc etc

it there server and there choice...

now you know not to screw around

Most servers autoban when you try to use rcon with the wrong password. Personally I'd like your wonid so I can ban you from our server too. Next time, try not to be stupid.

After 3 trys of wrong passwords our sever will ban you, yes. If i'm standing at your front door trying different keys to your lock, what would you do?

But then those same people probably have access to the banned.cfg and can unban themselves, or at least contact the appropriate person to unban them. I would rather have to unban an admin than fix a hacked server.

If u have an ISP with dynamic IPs just dial in again. If u have a static IP, ask an admin.

I believe you get three tries to enter the correct password before the server autobans you (as scott mentioned). If an admin enters the rcon password wrong the first time, they better make sure they get it right the second time.

This situation just goes to show you not to mess with rcon_password if you're not an admin. It is not unfair at all--you <i>should not</i> mess with someone else's server.

It's a feature of any HL server, it will automatically ban you after three attempts for about 10 -15 minutes <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'> (typically) so you should be able to go back in after that time.

Yes. And a legit person wouldn't have any trouble getting unbanned. Some lamer trying to guess the password would.

If you have an issue with a server, please take it up with that server's administrators - not here on the boards.

To those calling for a lock... yes, I'm locking this post. However, keep in mind that when 1.1 releases we're going to be getting a *lot* of new people on these boards, so try to be friendly and helpful, and leave the moderating to the mods, ok? Call it a personal favor to us. Thanks. (:
