Using Haxor Progz As Trainers

<div class="IPBDescription">not cheating, just training</div> After noticing how many more aimbot program users were on NS, I decide to check it out; to get an understanding of it.

After checking it out, and confirming for myself that it definitely gave and unfair advantage, I played without it. I noticed my aim had improved and my basic strategy as a lone marine had also improved.

I think studing the points where the aimbot aimed to kill enemys in different postions help improve my aim.

Being able to always see enemy positions (when the prog was on) and their strategys help me with finding enemies out of my sight( and when the prog was off). I was able to study enemy strategy's in combat; not having to spectate.

I have no plans of ever using the prog for an NS online game again, but I think I'll use it for practice/training. Being a newbie, I still haven't fully adjusted to NS gameplay entirely.

I'd read that one of the reasons people cheat is because they totally suck at the game. Maybe those people could use the cheat to help them get better at the game; as a legit player. Hopefully you get what I mean.

TBH it's just a way of fasttracking, you can learn just as well by playing the game.

If you're going to do it, play on a LAN with bots, no where else.

You could find your WonID on here if you do.

Yeah, heed th0r0n^. I banned many people who were 'just testing it out' from my CS server.

Also remember, some cheats leave residual files on your computer, even when uninstalled. This can, and I have seen it, set off cheating detection systems and get you banned. So manually check for those files!

That was my point, learning faster. A better way to use these progs then cheating other players and ruining their game.

I know it's a touchy subject but, whats with the threat? If I wanted to cheat I wouldn't have posted this. I'm insulted.

p4l thanks for the advice. I'll check for that stuff.

Ehh.. if you cheat online, no matter for what "purpose", you're a cheater.

By installing the cheat program you probably left enough traces that will get picked up and get you banned in the future.

Recommending that new people "try" cheats as a way to improve is too stupid to be taken seriously.

Hm, if you left your WON ID in your post, I would probably still ban you from my server :-p j/k <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

there is a difference between cheating in a fashion that you beat everyone... and cheating in a way that it still can be fun for the other team.......

While i understand that it may help you learn where to shoot.... it is just as fun/easy to learn on your own..... you may just find strategies that work for you... example: i shoot better on the run than i do standing still.. Im used to BF1942 leading shots, and when i run it equals the leading needed in this game.. so i run!

    Also.. is it that hard to target a marine?? <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> hard huh??? POINT AND SHOOT!!!

While i have no personal qualms about cheating on servers, as long as you keep it fun for the other team.. ex.. NO DEFENDING BASES WITH UBER SHOOTING... NO killing people all the time.. and no other stupid ****........ keep it so the other team has a chance and its cool by me

an aimbot will probably show you where the hitboxes are rather than the models, and hence where to aim. If you want to learn this without cheating check out my (unfinished) guide <a href='http://www.muppetking.com' target='_blank'>www.muppetking.com</a> <span style='color:red'>>> Muppet King >> NS Boot Camp.</span>

I will probably not finish this guide as we are on the dawn of 1.1 I will re-do it properly when that is released.

As the other responsible people said "Never ever install a cheat unless you really know all about PC's and have a genuine server-admin related need". There are too many pitfalls to mention, you have been foolish young one but this time we shall let it pass.

    Q. I haven't tried this but if you run a listenserv with bots, enable cheats and sv_aim can you not manage a similar effect ?

btw - I would love to see some NS training sims / single player maps at some time <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

It's similar to showing hit boxes, but more like showing the best way to track when an enemy is in a certain postition.

    ex.
I never thought about just aiming down to kill a charging skulk, I always thought since we were near the same level, I could just keep shooting forward or duck if they get to close. After seeing the aimbot just further down (tracking the skulk) as it came closer, it was clear the was a more efficent method; for me, I can't speak for every player.

While yes playing we good players and listening to their advice does help, it's still not as fast. And no player and actually tell a how to really aim. Even spectating in 1st person isn't as good, because even though you can see where they are shooting, it's unlikely you can mimic them. You don't know what they are thinking, you don't really know why they chose certain paths instead of others, and you don't they're method for aiming; like how they keep a cool head in a fire fight and what they are watching out for.

Calling it stupid without even trying to see a good side to it is foolish in itself; look at both sides. I'd rather have people using these progz to get better faster than using them on me and my team in the game. It's a different look on an old thing.

Being able to see 1st hand where your opponents go helps greatly learning about the best ways to ambush, rush, and just plain attack them. You can tell a player to listen out for enemies, or enemies usually hide over here/there, but it's not as good as seeing an enemy moving to that place, seeing their path finding, and the overall strategy they use for survival. This game isn't as simple as "aim, point, and shoot", it has an RTS effect to it. Also, killing a GOOD skulk is not as easy as it seems, especially ones that are good with parasite.

eaglec, I doubt sv_aim is as useful as aimbot in showing the best places to shoot, and ways to track, but I'll check it out. Oh, I like your guide so far, especially the the pics with the target area shown. Most of the info you give is stuff I already know. I don't suck as much in NS anymore; not food anymore.

Stoneburg, it's stupid to think VAC, CD, and HLGuard are gonna finally stop all cheating/hacking. Even with the new technology, methods, and people in the back continuiously working on them, you still have people working on methods of cheating. I'm not staying cheating will never end, but with progz that can bypass all anti-cheat devices, it's war on cheating isn't gonna be over anytime soon. But, I figured I'd get this type of critism anyway; actually I though this topic would be full of FLAMES by now.

I'm not looking for an excuse to cheat. I'm giving an excuse not to cheat.

Thx for all warnings about residue files. If it becomes a problem, I'm sure I can deal.
