Alien stories

<div class="IPBDescription">Do they exist and other questions.</div>I would love to read some stories about the aliens, I mean, we have all of this wonderful info on the marines and how they came to be but nothing on the aliens really.

Are the aliens purely instinct or do they think like we do? Do the aliens have a religion or belief system? Do they have a culture? What do they think of the marines (if at all)? Do they see this as a war for survival or are they deeply entrenched in hundreds of other galaxies and dont give a monkey's about us?
How have this breed of fairly warlike aliens come to exist? I mean, all of the classes we have seen are all for fighting except the builder... does the lvl5 have any point other than fighting... I dunno, handicrafts or athletics or something? Are there aliens we havent seen?
Maybe the aliens are only defending themselves, maybe we are encroaching on them, maybe they are genetically bred war machines left over from a millenia of fighting that ended in the destruction of their masters (bit cliched but possible).
Do they have an original homeplanet? Maybe they were from Earth and left to survive before the asteriod hit... are they mammalian? Reptilian? Carbon based?

I know this isnt needed to enjoy the game but this species must have so many stories to tell.

Some intresting idea CMEast. We should explore the alien side more. Remember that the official writer is going to put out some more stuff soon.

Bozman20 and I have done a lot of theoretical work, laying down the groundwork for an alien story I want to write - but as yet there is just too much we haven't been told by The Crew In Charge about the aliens to really write anything from their perspective.

That was basicly my thinking, we, as fan writers, need to know a bit more of their point of view.

The alien subject has most of us stuck.  I know at least I can't do anything until I've got more alien background.  So I just kinda run over them with a light pencil for now.

I think one of the good thinks of the aliens is that they're rather "unknown". When you play marines, you know nearly nothing about your enemy. I hope that Jeff and the other of the Team doesn't reveal too much of the aliens. Sure, a bit of background but i would like it to know not for sure WHY they attack the systems. So you can always thinks about that like "Why are they attacking us? Perhaps their Homeworld is destroyed? Have we the right to kill them only because they want to life? Can it even be that WE are a danger to them?"
You understand? I think some secrets about the aliens and their background/motivation should remain.

Back when AvP was first released, I started a story from the alien POV... it's very difficult to write a story based on non-speaking creatures.  You can personify them, but it takes a lot of the alien-ness out of it.  Maybe I'll try my hand; I've written some pretty good fanfics in my time.

the problem is the keeping the alien in the alien that is not going to work by letting aliens talk ala Disney animations. and Names and personality's are out of the question if you want to keep the aliens evil and just a creature that can swallow three men in whole.
There is one of the blokes now!

I thought about trying but i reckon itll become almost poetry and not the story id like. I cant explain feelings without proper language without it sounding like the sentance somehow got caught in static.

I think the easiest way to write would be as an observer which is why I asked for history stuff. Its difficult to write action in observer mode and still make it sound fast.

in basic groundwork.  We might want to think about how a hive mind would "feel"

For example, I imagine that the pain building under attack would be felt by the other aliens, and that is how they would know when, and where.  Just like when you hurt your leg, you know where the pain is instantly.

Any ideas for showing how aliens share the location of enemies?
