ps. I hate SOE
Personally I beta tested it and learned to hate it. I'm not a fan of SOE, actually I'm an anti-fan but thats another story.
I was just wondering how many of you play planetside? OR how many people do you know play planetside? I would like to know how popular PS still is. When it was beta, sure everyone liked it cause they didn't have to pay a stupid monthly fee, but now, I wouldn't waste my money.

Granted they fixed that, but I knew right then I wanted nothing to do with a bunch of ****. The game itself isn't that good anyways, requires a GIANT of a computer to run to :-\
so many bugs its scary.
so much useless content its rediculous.
so much imbalance it makes the early patch frenzy of Starcraft look like nothing.
customer service, public relations, and quality assurance are all a joke.
the horrible lag means you will deal with "bullets following you around corners" ALL the time.
the constant crashes only frustrate you.
game is the slowest FPS in existance (tons of timesinks)
pay to play.
No.
The lag is nonexistant, most lag that is present is from your machine. Even if you have a 56K, but you have a good comp, your lag will be very low. A friend of my got 200 ping at a west coast server on a 56K and he has a good comp.
However, I do think PS was rushed too much.
Oh....September...with HL2...ahh yesss...
MMORPG makers need to wake up, people are NOT paying $50 + $12/mo for your game, they are paying $250 a YEAR. For ONE game. For that much money not only should your RPG be flawless, but it should be fun, balanced, and constantly have new content or events every MONTH.
I mean really, if you bought a game for $250 would you want something that was buggy, unbalanced, unfun, and lacked key features for several months after release? HELL NO!!
Besides, I find I get more fun out of 5 single player games for $50 then 1 POS MMORPG. BUT, I will cave in and shell out insane ammounts of money to play D&D Online. My dream game

*Sighs* I hate how games require such massive things to run.
Me too. I'd like to give it a try.

so it doesnt really take much to play ps, i was getting around 20-50 fps i would like to say
I still use the music tracks for whatever though.
Nah, that's not how our economy works. As long as there are enough people who pay for crappy games, the industry will continue to make crappy games. In fact the games will become even worse until they reach a crappiness treshold that makes them unprofitable.
Don't blame the makers, blame the consumers for being ignorant and uncritical about the games they pay for.
The concept is solid, however, the environments are getting a little stale for me. But I plan on staying on till at least HL2 comes out, probably not beyond September. I dig it, but playing it interferes with the development of my own game
So you beta tested it, learned to hate it, but would play it for free? That doesn't make any sense to me. I beta tested it, and really liked it despite the fact my computer just could not handle the game and crashed frequently. That and the fact that I'm not into paying a recurring fee for a game when theres plenty of good ones (ns) that don't have one.
In short, if I had a cutting edge super powerful computer and money was no object, I'd probably be playing. But that isn't the case so...
All-righty then:
It sucks even though I don't know. :-D
A ju heppi now?
And now I shall start scheming on how to get teh ultra-gaming-rig.

you are one lucky guy if it ran good on your box. i play PS all the time the only thing that i really hate is the intense slow down i get, and my machine it way over the specs it needs.
athlon xp1800+
512DDR
Geforce 4 ti4400 128ram
win 98SE with all updated drivers.
i have to run it at MINIMUM graphic and sound settings(apart from weather effects there sweet). and even that when im in battle it chuggs like a POS. but i will still play it never the less as i like it in small battles. (20 people both sides).

Could that be because of your connection? My guess is that large battles eat bandwidth. If that ain't it, I'd consult some tweaking guides (the PS forums must have 'em), you really should get better performance than that.
It seems that some people are more tolerant of slowdown than others though. I can play a game at anything above 20 fps, while some people consider 50 or 60 fps to be awful.
