Thank you!! This is probably the best post I've seen as to why bite should be removed in 1.1. I'm very sorry to go so far off topic like this, but this is one of the very first intellegent posts on the subject I've seen so far. Way to go meatshield! <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
ugh, lerks are <b>not</b> better killing machines then fades. Unless your comparing a skilled lerk to a nub fade. In 1.04 fades are usually required to win. An army of lerks could be taken out really quickly by HMG fire. Kill wise, I usually find it tough to keep up with fades. I hope you know that by taking out bite and putting spores in its place will make the lerk less supportive and there will be a ton of kill-hogs. So as for the 1.04 lerk being overpowered, you are completely wrong. If anything the 1.1 lerk will be overpowered due to its easiness. At least in order to bite you were required to practice. I guess that's ok for your pub games but in <b>competitive play</b> this 1.1 lerk will not cut it.

The 1.04 lerk made a perfect hive guard. Since the 1.1 lerk cant kill quickly anymore what class will we use for hiveguard?
    skulk <-- to weak
fade <-- cannot hide, plus it had better things to do.
onos<-- lol, by the time u get an onos your hive will already be gone.

The problem with yesterday's lerk argument is that I was thinking in terms of match play not the average pub. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Agreed. Lerks are not better killers than fades unless used by experts. But an expect Fade is even deadlier.
Also Lerks can't stand up to the heavy marines and weopons as well as fades. At that point there fighing skills are already dropped dwon to a support role and Fades are needed to take the big rines out.
Lerk being to powerful is a crappy reason to take bite out. They are not too powerful.

Either you're good enough to be too good with the Lerk with bite, or you don't use bite at all, so might as well take it out(if it's either too good or not used, bye bye ability)

In the average pub game, lerks are overly easy to kill with, Lerks with umbra and bite can easily take out a public player in heavy armour / HMG even 2, possibly the third too, (it makes me laugh the number who try this with spikes however <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->)

In clan play lerks are relegated to the need to have to support the fade class they are meant to, and with bite it makes them the ultimate fade defence, (bite is a very supportive ability to the clan lerk)

Although since hearing about the removal of bite, i have began playing with spikes alone, and early game (1.04 obviously <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->) they really slaughter average pubber marines, up to 4 (or so) before the adrenaline runs out.

Lerks are essential in hive defence, one hive lerks v JP/HMG will win (up to 3 easily, its like a shooting gallery)(no posts about crappy marines, seriously, any lerk player will confirm this)

I would say definately have one lerk at one hive, possibly a second, depending on the agressiveness of the marines.
(and then there are the so called masters who call out "OMG n00b, dont lerk its a waste of res, and now the gorge wont get the second hive quickly" personally i say either nothing, or, "would you like to keep the first?"

Glorious moment as lerk: Fighting a jp/hmg'er with 2 DCs nearby at shipping tunnel. We were about equal in skill, I think we were fighting for two minutes. I kept hiding in umbra, spiking him (dodging out of the way but staying inside the DCs' range when my hp got low), he kept flying around like a madman shooting at me (getting medspam and ammo support). After what seemed like ages, he finally went down. My adrenaline was way up by then.
