i got rid of...

Sony singlehandedly tore up the FF franchise not to mention in recent days they are responsible for both Planteside AND SWG.....so come on.
games not good. other products such as music stuff and tvs and other things sony are good
and my p.c is a 633 celeron. with a 1mb gfx card. i play ns at 20 fps average.
i dont **think** my p.c would run those games...
and i played hte demo of splinter cell the night before i sold her...
and i was the SEKS! at that game.
i think for the price i can pick it up (he said £150...)
they cost £169 new with a game....
this comes with all of the above it may well be worth it ... as my p.c is bad and i spend alot of time in my room...
+ Smugglers Run is the ONLY game my g.f can beat me at...

well duh, me hating all sony products because of PS2 would be like me hating all GE products because of one bad microwave.
Although I do hate Honda lawn mowers.....stupid ricers.
But on the other hand, the PS2 is a fantastic console, no, it's not the most high-tech, but there are a lot of quality games out there and a lot of fun to be had. Also ontop of all this, you can play your old PSX games too, so that only further expands the already huge array of games.
Uh actually personally I feel sony SAVED the FF franchise. How many good RPGs were there for the N64? And don't say [inert zelda title here] because you and I both know its not an RPG. CDs pwn cartridge. And how was sony involved in production of any of the FF series? Last time I checked Square produced them... As for PS and SWG... ok you got me there.

Yeah, as far as CRAPPY CRAPPY CONSOLES go, PS2 is probably your best bet <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Seriously, though, if you ARE into the console thing, go with a PS2. It's got the most good games that aren't also available on the PC. Oh, and you can't call the PS1 a PSX anymore, because they're calling the new thing a PSX. I think.
and second Enter the Matrix should be really bad, but that's just what i've heard from people and reviews...

First off FF8+ were total crap and I'd rather that they'd never have been made.
Secondly one of the reasons there weren't any good RPGs for the N64 (although paper mario was fun) was because companies like Squaresoft jumped to the cash boat that was PS2. I feel having FF7 on N64 and FF8+ on gamecube would have lended itself to a very good series that would still be respectble today and not known as pathetic eyecandy with filler for gameplay.
ohh my bad...i'm pretty tired at the moment...
No, he calls paper mario an rpg, which afaik it was (classified as, that is, the only true rpgs are pen & paper).
so true, but the sad thing is none of my friends can play any more due to schoolwork, jobs and so on <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
some geek in here should make a ruleset / a bot and set up a game on irc <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
and posh on Esuna for saying Sony/Square fudged up the FF series. It's not a series, it's a title set.

actually I said that. And its true. It <i>used</i> to be a series and PS2 turned it into just a name. So I think you illustrated my point ruther well. FF7 was good FF8 was bad FF9 was forgetable FF10 was a travesty and beyond that is pure horror.
true... but im getting pretty desperat <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
Also, as far as splinter cell goes, from what I've seen the PS2 and Gamecube versions simply look like crap in comparrison to the x-box and pc versions. The PC Version also controls a hell of a lot better than the X-Box version (simply due to this type of game working better w/ a mouse than a gamepad), and its probably safe story on the PS2 and Gamecube. You might wanna try it on PC (download the demo) if your system can handle it.
That said, there are plenty of reasons to get a PS2. If you haven't played em on PC, GTA3 and GTA:Vice City are great games. Also Metal Gear Solid 2 is terrific (except for the story line. actually you kinda learn to love the game heh), but then again I'm a rabid Metal Gear fan. Since a PS2 is backwards compatible you can play PS1 titles such a FF7 and Metal Gear Solid (which pwns, no doubt about it. Can't think of anything bad about it, at all, ever). You may also wanna give the Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy games a shot.
There's also some games on the horizon that look to be absolute pwnage. Grand Theft Auto 4 is gonna be PS2 exclusive (like GTA3 and VC are), as is the new sexy Castlevania: Lament of Innocense (or something like that). Of course I'm all pumped up for Metal Gear Solid 3. But if you're gonna buy, I'd suggest doing it now while the price is down to $179, cause once the new "revised" ps2 comes out its back up to $199.
In any case, if you have enough money, just buy the PS2 for the rest of the awesome games on it, plus all the $20 PS1 games you can play. FF7, FFTactics, MGS, all pure gaming gold. I alternated playing FF7 with my friend a few years ago and we were glued to the TV like every day trying to get to the next part of the game. Same thing with MGS. Ahh, PS1 was so many good memories hehe.
I don't own a PS2, but I've played GTA3 and VC and needless to say they are awesome.
My sentiments exactly Square sold out and Nintendo lost out because of it. We could have had FF games comming out made from squarsoft's talent and Nintendo's integrity. Anyway it pisses me off to no end that squaresoft ditched nintendo and it's no suprise ff7-whateveritisnow sucked.
Was it just me, or was the hacking part a joke?
