Begining Dump Of Physical Memory

<div class="IPBDescription">BSOD</div> ok, though this dosn't happen that often with hl (like once I tihnk) I have been getting BSODs that have that error msg. My most recent one was with BitTorrent++ (trying to DL tron 2.0 demo)

I was getting these ALOT before a reformat/reinstall/update (for instance when ever I tried to play Morowind). After the update (new vid card) I wasn't getting them anymore. Now hey have started to pop up again. Often they will occure on the same program multiple times (like with morowind before, but with other programs also)

If you post your minidump files, we can look at them in a debugger. From c:\windows\minidump...

mkay, mindumps are GO!

and they were in winnt not windows (I am asuming that was just a alip of the fingers and not something I should care about)

As another note, how do I look at these things? (I opened one with note pad and it is garbage), is there a progie?

Then grab appropriate symbols here: <a href='http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/ddk/debugging/symbolpkg.mspx#Windows%20symbol%20packages' target='_blank'>http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/ddk/debuggin...mbol%20packages</a>

Then install everything and setup your symbol maps (see setup instructions, I'm a bit tired to explain it here). Then open your crash debug minidump files and see where everything went wrong. You're well on your way to an engineering job.

Note that this is a BIG app once you have the symbol sets...

wow, I have just gained a very large (well even larger then before) for MonsE and any one else who can do this stuff.

Just puzzling through MSofts instructions for installing the symbols (yah I borked that up even)

I then read foward in the instrucitons, to see if it was worth trying to fix my mistakes (and DL ALOT more symbols, those things are big). Seeing how as I really didn't understand this stuff at all, I tihnk I just might save this for latter (like if I really decide to go into that line of work). Again I thank you for your help MonsE.

For now I think I will simply live with these rare crashes (or more precicely avoid those programs that cause them).
