never heard about blood omen, but i rented a ps2 for 2 weeks to play ffx in the short period between spring and summer semesters. Storyline is the stupidst thing on earth till about 10 hours into the game when it starts to make sense, then gets pretty good. But for the first 10 hours I ran around sayin "what the hell is this crap!???" (actually, i used far more colorful wording).

As far as gameplay goes, there's a random encounter every half second but usually its a round of creatures that once you figure out how to beat them you can do it w/o even getting hit once. The combat really gets boring after about 2 hours of playing, so really its story that drives this game rather than gameplay (and what a lame story it is).

As always, if you summon a creature then go grab a snack, take up a hobby like whittling, and carve a miniture of the lincoln memorial, and then when you come back the introduction for the monster will be just about finished.

    ps ff7 is better

Well, monster entrances can be shortened.Personally, I'm yet to play either, but I've heard that Blood Omen 2 sucks, and FFX is great. So for now, I say FFX. (And yes, FFVII and FFVIII are, imo, the best.I just hate that whole cartoony look, and the stories are more lighthearted, which I also hate)

I've played BO2, but not FFX.

If you really like the new FF games (I don't care for any after FF3), I would suggest that you get FFX instead of BO2.  It will provide more game hours and more replayability than BO2.

I would only recommend BO2 to fans of the series (and Soul Reaver) who enjoy the story, and want to know what happens with Kane.  The game itself is pretty average.  Combat gets very repetitive, and the game feels a bit rough around the edges (studders some).  But it still has the excellent voice actors, and the story is well done as usual.

I'm still waiting for a good vampire game.  Have been for a very long time.
