When Is A Win Actually A Victory?

<div class="IPBDescription">anybody can win, but is it a worthy win?</div> Okay, I just have to rant here... but first the topic at hand.... Winning - some people will do just about anything to win. Most of us are just here to have fun, but others will lie and cheat their way to the top and claim ownage because for some reason they have major issues and need psychiatric help if the only way for them to feel good about themselves is by winning a game. For the jollier type, those more interested with having a "Good Game" these other "Bad Sports" simply ruin games.
::START RANT::
Okay, I like to play on a certain server (TG) - it's not too crowded and not too quiet most of the time. Well, I just got done playing a game at about a quarter til two in the morning CDT. So most ppl left. One person (I won't mention any names right now...) stayed on as aliens and I still wanted to play - I like one on one games. He said he'd stay until after this game then find a server with more ppl on it. Okay - I join Marines... Map is caged - build two IPs - one on the floor and one up by the comm chair (maybe I'll fake him out if he gets me on the first rush) And that's just what happened... I proceed to build an Armory and Arms Lab and hide behind my structures waiting on him to rush. I then build a Prototype Lab and fight him off for the third or fourth time after building it. so then I wait on res for jps and recycle the arms lab. I drop myself a shottie and research jps. I fight him off another two times... Now, jps done, shottie fully loaded, He lerks (I hear him while I'm en route to his hive which was Generator) I keep rushing his hive - He hears me and types
' oh don't even...'
I thought it was just some whining so I proceeded to take down his hive. Jet past some OTs and get to the hive and start blasting away. This is when the kicker comes... He says
'if you're going be lame, then i'll just leave'
I wanna make this game enjoyable for everybody (I had never done a fast jp rush before..) so i said...
'what - you don't want me to jp rush?'
'dude I'll stop if you want me to'
'i'm standing down'
I kept asking him what he wanted, but he never answered, I had stopped shooting the hive and was trying to reason with him. I finally just decided to go back to start and and do some old fashioned weapons and armor upgrades and kill him the hard way, but on the way out, the OTs capped me...
BOOM! The game ends - while i was trying to talk to him to make it a fun game, he was gorge rushing my entire base. So after he accuses me of being lame, which - 1 on 1 - i mean c'mon if the aliens let me get far enough to get jps, they should be owned anyway, but after all that trying to reason with him, he just takes out my base after all that whining. I just wanted a good game, but he was willing to lie to win. So tell me - how much weight does a lying victory hold? How empty is it? How many people can relate? This really sickens me, but I guess its unavoidable... But that doesn't mean I have to like it!
P.S. After the game was over - i tried to be civil and talk to him about it, but he left... Couldn't even fess up...

Abandon All Hope does that sort of thing, too. We were goofing around in a 2 v 2 (ended up being 4 v 4) and I was having fun with a shotgun shooting babblers in a NS-version of DuckHunt. Then AAH tries to sneak 3 sieges in. I don't remember who won the game, but it was funny, regardless.
So this guy, he said you were being lame? WHY DID U LISTEN? dont try to reason with him, because he may convince you that collecting res and researching properly and attacking the enemy is lame. Too late now but next time put a cap in his lying **** for me <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
