ok i'm in alien and i'm gestestaing as a onos and an jper is flying by. All off a sudden it minimizes, as you all know the sound goes away and you have to retry the server. But i know a better way to get sound and still be in the same spot. next time your ns gets minimizes.....becuase your friend wants pr0n....um i mean boonmarines. well anyways press cltrl+alt+del. right click on counter-strike or half-life and press bring up to front and it should fix sound. really useful if you are teh only one ownzors

When I do the esc > resume thing it gets super dark though. What's the problem there?

I can never get sound back without restarting Half-Life. We have a love hate relationship.

Use a third party server browser, and then hitting esc should take you to the main menu instead of Internet games(at least ASE does that for me). Hitting resume from there should result in sound coming back, and get rid of eventual flickering mouse pointers over your crosshair.

It's because the NS maps have an entity called env_gamma that activates when the map first loads in and basically increases the gamma contrast settings in HL.

When you esc > resume it'll flip back to standard HL gamma settings , right until the next map loads in.

My sound does not return unless I return to the main menu (useless, because you have to quit the game). Why did you leave your IM client logged in while you were playing, anyway? I always switch mine off when I play anything.

A while back, I didn't lose sound when HL Minimize, but then it stopped being nice.

My old card, the ATI Radeon 7200 64mb, always use to lose sound + picture when it would minimize...with my new GeForce 4 Ti 4600 I dont lose anything...Yay for Nvidia! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
