how?
Is there a way to turn off vsync in halflife without downloading any external program? Is that usefull if the monitor runs at 91fps in 1024x726?
Right click > properties > settings > advanced, here is where it may differ, I have a tab that says GeForce 2 GTS (My Card obviously) so click a tab that says you video driver, then I click additional properties > OpenGL > Click it off.
V-Sync is an extremely good thing! You really shouldnt turn it off... When its off you'll start to experience an effect called "chearing" when you look around with the mouse which is where frames look like they're cut in half.

I thought it was called tearing? Oh and he probably wants it off because with it on you fps are limited to 60. With it off you can reach 100 in HL thus allowing you to benefit from ns's bugs such as infinate jp fuel and faster building.
well, heres a screen shot on how to turn it off/on w/an nvidia card like mine. this is in win xp. i keep it on, get a refresh rate fixing program for windows and call it good, thats what i do. well here it is

And here it is for an intel integrated card, I dunno why its called Async. Flip... but it is says the intel website Its probably easier to lock your refresh rate higher.. I use refreshlock and keep it at 85 and it works fine.. no need to shut vsync off (If that isnt vsync tell me)
i dont think I ever had any frame tearing that I know off but i leave V-Sync on just in case and I still get 100fps
If you get 100fps constanly with v-sync on it means you have a screen refresh rate of at least 100hz and an UBER computer, I therefore hate you quite a lot

I cant find that option on my video card (s3 SavageproDDR) Infact, I cant find any options others than Colour/Gamma adjusting Please help
it depends on ur drivers. I currently have the alstest windows signed drivers for my geforce 3 ti200 however no option to turn off v-sync how ever when i had the very latest drivers there was an option. Check to see if uve got the latest drivers and if they are signed by windows (sometimes can mean that they are dumbe down a bit to stop u screwing up ur pc)

This is how it works for me running windows 98:

I hope that helped you, some atleast.
