I just downloaded the game and everything seems to be running fine except that when I try to join a game I get to where the screen goes black and there is yellow text that says "Loading...". Then I get brought back to the launch screen and a window pops up saying that The OpenGL mode is not supported by my video card. Ive gone back to try and change the settings but no option seems to work. Im not sure what my video card is cuz im not very computer smart and dont know how to check. Im running windows xp.
I was able to play the game fine a while ago before I got XP and was plasying it on Windows 98. The only problem I had was that I had to go through the start menu.
I would be truly grateful if anyone could help me, cuz i really want to paly the game again

Also, you mentioned that you had to run ns through the start menu so I'm guessing your desktop icon didn't work. This is a known problem and can be fixed very easily: Go into your start menu and get to your NS shortcut, right-click on it and select properties, copy the line from the "Target" box, it should be something like "C:\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game ns". Once you have copied that line, go onto your desktop and right-click your desktop ns schortcut, go into properties and paste the line into the "Target" line, the shortcut should then work fine.
I had this same problem too with my nVidia card and updated the drivers and still had problems the OpenGl worked but it caused my computer to crash a lot (BSOD). What I finally realised is I also needed to update my Motherboards Chipset Drivers. I have an Asus Board with nForce2 chipset. Once I upgraded those drivers and the Video Card drivers I was set and haven't had a problem since.
