    Well, A) read my story, "The Devoured" and it gives you my perspective on what a "building" really is. B) Why doesn't it just tell the Bacterium that it wants to place a bulding there, and the Bacterium form it out of a stored pattern, like the hive, and the rest of the aliens?     at current the gorge excretes a mass of the bacterium and then can +use the blob to nuture it into the specific organism that the glob is destined to be

    I recall the answer to this story being somewhere in the manual
