At this point we have about 70 mirrors lined up for the big July 31st release of NS 2.0. So if you were worried about finding good bandwidth (or that coathanger mentioned previously is getting rusty from bum wiz), we should have you covered. For those who are curious, yes, the NS Win32 and Linux servers will release a day early as usual, to allow plenty of servers time to get setup. Then the client will hit the next day in a flurry of skulk teeth and muzzle flashes.
And speaking of servers, a little birdie has told me that there may have been a huge breakthrough in server CPU optimization. One that may make NS even less of a resource user than 2.0 already is. One that would make NS an amazingly lightweight server process. One that would perhaps be in time to ship with 2.0. More on this as the story develops...

Server optimization is old news for ns fans but 70 mirrors and day early release? Sweet.

You do know that its just for the servers right? The version that players download and use is still for July 31st - so even thought there will be 2.0 servers on July 30th, you cant play on them untill the next day.
the server optimization mentioned here is not old news. Its brand spanking new. If it was old news then why we would be saying "a little birdy" seriously now.
good call on that

NS fans read changelogs and hence it is old news
Sentry Steve: Yes I know it's server release. I'm just happy to know that when I get my greasy little fingers on 2.0 I will be able to play it asa I get it installed.
Or linking to the mirrors early off the IRC?
Or any thing from the IRC?

I mean what's going on? I thought Flayra would release it early and do the rest with incremental patches, while everyone's playing they would just have to download another patch.Anyway here we go with another month of waiting.
Currently I have a job. I have to wake up at 5:30 in the morning in weekdays. 8,5h days. Still 3 weeks left of this job. This makes me want time to pass quicker.
Ns 2.0 is going to be released few weeks from now on. This makes me want time to pass quicker.
School starts in aprox. 4 months = sucks == not so fast clock! SLOWAH!
So I'm a bit torn here. NS releases, school starts, grades go down...I feel this is some sort of evil plan :/
