edit: Oh, and just to make sure. You DO realise that this is a public forum and discussing warez is more then likely to get you locked/banned?
[Cult]Creep.
i sent a link to ONE song...not all of em. i didnt think people would go through the directories for my music. so now i've deleted them all from my directory

Too obvious?

Welcome to the Internet. Most average users who would be part of a game community will know how linking vaguely works, and will rummage through the associated directories if they can get access.
And as we say at work, the security of your network is <b>your</b> problem.
but when someone has them, could i get them? i loved that alien song and i would like to have more...
and did i go out putting the blame on anyone? no...
Heh, you should be happy that people went looking for music. Means they found something to heal their mind... I'm not saying everybody should work for free or anything (It'd never work), but the concept of generosity still exists.
Getting angery at a bunch of people that enjoy your work and who had unrestricted access to your server dosn't make anything better. They wouldn't be looking into your stuff if they didn't enjoy it. If anything its a compliment.
PS: Whats your ftp server IP. I want to check your stuff out. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> (Thats a joke..)

Well i'm in 3 bands, have 2 cd singles in distribution and have an abundance of mp3s up on my website and webserver. To be honest, i couldn't care if people downloaded stuff from my server that i've not officially released, as long as it's not pirated from one of my cds, the more people that listen the better.
If i were you, i'd shut up whining and be glad that people actually spared the curiosity to go searching for more of your music.
And stop the "i'm an artist and so hard done by" routine, you'll only end up looking arrogant and pretentious.
Also, Alien's Reign totally owns. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> I love it, it's made my playlist.

To use your analogy of a caek, i think you're wrong.
It's like having an infinate caek (which will never run out, obviously) and offering people a slice. Once they have a slice, they want more, and the caek being infinate, it's still in existance after everyone's taken as much as they want.
And i dunno about anyone else, but you can't view any of the directory trees on my webserver, it's good practice not to allow people to snoop, not blocking it is kinda like forgetting to put clothes on when you go out.
The simple fact it comes down to is, and you can deny it all you like, that he didn't want the other tracks being distributed, but if he made no attempt to secure said files, it's his fault and nobody is to blame if they download them but himself.
<span style='color:white'>[edit]</span>I might add, ontop of all this, the "mp3s" folder (which is now pretty much empty) is +still+ viewable by the public.<span style='color:white'>[/edit]
The edit button is your friend.</span>
EVERYONE likes caek.
not everyone knows everything everyone else knows...assuming so makes you an ****

If you don't want people to steal or rip-off your music, don't release it, don't let anyone hear it, cause that's the only way you'll ever stop it.
I just presumed, that since you seem well versed in things such as copyright, that you would know about keeping your music safe and not letting people you don't want to get a hold of it.
Next time you know better. Let a friend with more networking experience either talk you through it (Monse if he has enough free time, which he shouldn't, PR blitz, baby!), or have someone else do the hosting, which is what you said you were going to do now anyway. So, erm, I really think this thread is beating a dead horse.
Subscribing to the whole "Steal the Internet" policy that has grown with the existence of file-sharing applications such as Napster, Morpheus, and Kazaa; Anything you put on the Internet for them to see but don't want them to doesn't make them evil for seeing and taking it, it makes you careless. Try punishing a puppy for stealing your dinner which you set on the ground. [/bad analogies] They don't know better, no matter what Dubya or the Government, or lawyers say.
(the thread should die after this post..if it doesnt and you're still trying to prove something to me you got real problems)

By not accepting responsibility for other people "stealing" your music, you're essentially blaming this entire board and community. Congratulations.
I've offered a quick fix to your problem (posted above) and you've not even expressed any such gratitute for my troubles, or even acknowledged i offered help. This is insulting.
And never expect a thread to die, just because you say it should.
And i don't have a single problem in the world, i'm extremely content and happy.
the RIAA should emply this guy as a spokesperson...
