<div class="IPBDescription">in beta discussion</div> Well, the thing that I don't reallly like with showing scores is that on an off day you don't like having your scores shown to others such as clan members and at times i get so frusturated that i just type exit in console and go play some basketball... now how bout in the hud it would show you your kill/deaths?? but maybe for the scoreboard it would hide scores (pub play) but arrange them from best to worst??? that why you can take a quick glance at kills/death and then look at scoreboard to see where i stand with others so that way you will always want to be better with them but you don't know how far ahead they are so you keep trying until you are past them and then you want to keep going and stay ahead of everyone... it stlll would be competitive so that you can get the #1 spot but it wouldn't show people your scores and I know some people get embarrased of their scores... anyways my 2c <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    You could always go into console, and type 'status'

    Your number of frags is the third one.. so it'd be like...

    "Your Name" Blah Blah *Number of Frags* blah blah

    and just take a screen shot of that if ya want your score :/

    A kill-death count in Natural Selection is relatively meaningless as there are too many factors that don't go up on the scoreboard. I think the scoreboard was removed to promote that spirit, and let everyone playing the game know that there is more to NS than killing and dying for one's own sake (unlike most other mods).

    That being said, I think it's pretty easy to determine when a player is doing well, but it all depends on their role. When a team is doing well, obviously the commander is doing well. Does he get scoreboard recognition for that? If you have resources coming in and hives going up, you've got good gorges. How can they get a good score when they're more inclined to build and support? When your alien structures are staying up and marines are being held back, you've got good skulks. Do they get credit for dropping marine res nodes or tech structures?

    I don't think a scoreboard is necessary, and I find it hard to believe that it really detracts from the spirit of competition. But then different players have different goals, right?

    Psht, I never look at the scoreboard the whole game! Well sometimes, but it doesnt drive me to play. Thats pretty sad if you play NS and the scoreboard is what drives you on to keep playing. Ugh...

    Oh, but lag counts right? Ok, let me tell you all a story here...
    Once, I lagged out, and the screen went all black and stuff...and then, a tiny white light was shining over my lag...and the lag read "one three three seven, not elite!!". Dear god...it was a message from the great one himself. I, am the chosen one!
