Wol's And Col's?

mmk most people who have played for any length of time know what a WoL is.. a Wall of LAme. typcically built by gorges to block tunnels and routes / res nodes etc...

they seem to be a highly accepted strategy - if the aliens got that much res, then why shouldn't they? i've never been kicked / flamed for walls of lame as a gorge.

CoL's ? Chairs of Lame!

what the hell is the problem with these?!?!?!

building walls with chairs is hard... it takes a relative amount of skill - same was building a Good WoL does. so why do people get so mad about them? sure they have a crap lot of health, but they don't heal themselves like Walls of DC's do. they don't shoot you like OC's do... similarly with the aliens, if the comm has enough res to spam multiple 33 res chairs, why the hell shouldn't he / she be allowed?! i was kicked off a server for doing this on siege006. the big ramp room before the door, i built a 2 story wall of chairs.. when done properly, onos can't get through. they need a BOOST <-- IE *drum roll + dramatic effects* team work!

... i was kicked for being a lame commander apparently. yer when we had pushed forward earlier, we couldn't get to alien res, because it was blocked with a wall of DC's, and then a wall of OC's infront of it. the gorge was congratulated on his strategic positioning!!!!

i think if one strat is accepted, so should the other. it's both or neither. i don't see why you should be allowed to pick and choose myself.

well as you stated when you build a single chair it starts with a lot of health but with gorge bile bomb in 2.0 I don't see it much as a problem.

I also believe that building stacking is removed in 2.0, but don't quote me on it.

Otherwise I love the concept of Com Chair walls, gives the rines a sort of barricade ala Aliens. AS a strategy I commend any comm that uses it effectivly. It's effective when it frustates those people who are playing against it as alien. The reason people don't like it is because it actually works sometimes!

Surely it would still be a Wall of Lame or a Wall of Chair, not a Chair of Lame, that implies a piece of furniture that a gorge makes from OC's and DC's.

But in all seriousness, OC's and DC's are designed for blocking off areas from marines, Comm chairs are not designed for blocking off areas from aliens. I think marine structures are no longer stackable in 2.0 anyway, but don't quote me on that <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Edit: rofl, I just read Infedted Marine's thread, carbon copy, hehehe

We had a comm once on nancy who walled us in and dropped several welders. Although the aliens had 3 hives, they didn't manage to get through, not even with onos and all crap. 8 marines welding = immortal chairs. And when they die by gas they would simply just pick the welder up when the respawn. In the end however the aliens had 6 lerks sporing, 1 gorge and 1 onos, which won the game anyhow....

Siege pwns any WoL now that DCs have a stacklimit, even with healing gorges behind. How do you kill a CC when one or more marines weld it?

Here's another reason they're unfair: a gorge must build a wall of OCs and DCs chamber by chamber, which takes a great deal of time. Unbuilt alien structures are fairly easy to take down. Unbuilt comm chairs, however, have half the health of a built CC... that's half of 10,000! A comm can quickly and easily drop 5-6 of them and wall off an area entirely with unbuilt structures that have more health than *built* alien chambers.

The issue of welders has been mentioned already. CC walls are pretty much only used when the marines are about to lose, and needlessly prolong a game that ought to be in the bag.
